CCW in bars and restaurants in az signed into law
governor brewer(R) signed it into law yesterday. yep as long as CCW holder doesnt drink it is now legal to carry concealed anywhere alky-hol is served. owners will have to display a "NO WEAPONS" sign next to their liker license, if they dont allow weapons.
now if i was a bad guy of some intelligence.............i would just check out the high end bars/restaurants that displays a "NO WEAPONS" sign next to liker license and ONLY ROB those establishments! mark my words this WILL HAPPEN! |

Looks like there's one less law I'm breaking now. I'll also continue to ignore owners' no-guns signs.

yeah i am in favor of this big time. those establishments that have a NO WEAPONS sign no matter what they are or who they are DO NOT GET MY BIZNESS PERIOD! bottomline i nor my soon to be wife will become some statistic. if we are shot at or accosted..............WE IS SHOOTING BACK! i being a native of this fine state have first hand watched this place turn into a POO HOLE from illegal aliens, morons from other states who dont give a rats ass about nothing let alone yer life. i have seen the effects of the kalif. 3 strike rule and the gangs moving in. the number of dead bodies found out in the dez let alone on the streets has been a huge eyeopener. the simple fact that there is a law on the books that you cannot sue for damages any police dept for NOT responding in a timely manner to a life or death incident is enough to make me puke. so bottomline its us against the world here. and im NOT going to become a statistic. should be damn interesting what establishments ban weapons. hell in this economy they better think twice before pissing off LAW ABIDING CITIZENS! by the way. I DO NOT SHOP AT THIS FRYS GROCERY STORE because of their sign banning weapons. screw them and the horse they rode in on. |

I don't know that anyone has ever been prosectued in AZ for CCW'ing in a restaurant that serves booze, certainly not in Maricopa County. It's a misdemeanor anyway and you'd have to be a belligerent drunk to get prosecuted for it. If you ever had to use your sidearm for a lawful defense of life or limb, I'm sure the "competing harms" clause would come into play and you'd walk.
I always carry in Fry's. In fact, unless I'm wearing elastic waistband shorts, coming from the gym, I'm just about always armed in AZ.

Wouldn't any establishment that bans legally carried weapons on its property assume some sort of liability to protect its patrons?

BTW, I saw an incident at the DMV in April that made me wish I had ignored their "no-guns" signs. This woman went nuts and started screaming at all of us standing on line. I was sure she was coming back there with a gun. No cops, no security guards there to do anything about it.

Tavern owner interviewed here on TV was a Brit and totally against weapons. Of course it suited the television stations viewpoint so they aired it. Jerks..

Pretty sure arizonashooting.com will put up a list of businesses banning guns for all of us to start boycotting.

georgian dragon on central in btwn camelback and indian school west side. used to be a shakeys pizza many moons ago. saw this news blip with this moron. IGNORAMUS would be a better word. he just lost my bizness forever. let the moron eat his limey beans and extra greased out sausage plates in hell or back in limey land for all i care. yeah this was the ONLY stumbling block to me carrying concealed all the time. cant count how many times i would see beer neon sign and have to leave my weapon in vehicle. and believe me i like eating in mexican dive looking restaurants. best food anywhere. just sometimes a wierd clientle on paydays and sat afternoons. ie. the locals being muy borracho indecente or muy loco cabeza. how many years has the CCW law been in place? how many law abiding citizens have been involved in a shooting? 2 that i know of so far. the robbery of a zia records by some meth beeatch that she got ventilated, and the guy up hiking when the deranged guy and his 2 dawgs attacked the guy and he got ventilated. |

There's a super real Mexican dive that serves no booze where Joe and I have eaten after the gun show a few times, across the street from the fairgrounds. I'm just surprised by the number of businesses in AZ that serve booze. Liquor licenses are extremely expensive on the east coast. So you don't find delis and diners serving booze, since the revenue from it can't cover the several hundred thousands of dollars it costs to get the license. In NJ it can be well north of $1 million. In AZ every place serves booze. I open carried into a Tastee Freeze in Wickenburg a few weeks ago and then saw the beer on the menu and draped my jacket over my holster when I ordered. Unreal.
