I hate you, DrycleanUSA!!

Yesterday morning I dropped off 4 Nat Nast shirts that I planned on packing for a trip that starts tomorrow. When I went to pick them up, the fun started. The top one in the bag had a silver dollar sized oily stain on it (I hadn't actually worn that one yet, I just wanted it pressed and folded for carry-on convenience) and another was missing altogethor, in it's place a 'George' brand from Wal-Mart. I maintained a little bit of composure, despite being near-rabid and pointed out the various problems. The clerk said the mixed up shirt was probably still at the warehouse and they could have it in the AM. OK, no problem, so long as it's not been picked up by some fool who had a Wal-Mart shirt dry cleaned. Then she says that they can give me a $20 credit for the stain!?!?!? So, wait, you ruin a $150 shirt and offer me $20 and think I'm gonna be OK????????

I once took a dark grey/gunmetal blue padded fabric jacket to a drycleaner (NZ Drycleaners here in New Zealand) and when I came to collect it they presented me with a baby blue jacket. I said it wasn't mine and described mine. When I found out it was mine I went whacky, then when the Dutch drycleaning owner wanted the money for the drycleaning service... Well, let's not go any further in this description of events.

They wanted me to pay for the entire dry cleaning bill when I was there. I told them that I would pay for the entire bill when all 4 shirts were accounted for and in the condition in which I left them.

McLovin, no I don't generally pay that much for shirts. I won a gift card to Saks off 5th and figured I'd buy something that I normally wouldn't.

I have several shirts worth that much. A couple of sweaters worth around $1000. One very nice Hugo Boss silk shirt that cost $400 almost 10 years ago.

You have a problem with it?

Check the movie theater to see if the owner of the dry cleaners is borrowing your shirt to go out in tonight.

Happy to give the great Tabdula some company anytime.

On a serious note, I like nice clothing. Do not wear it all that often but also find that if you buy quality, it lasts longer and looks better the entire time.

No problem, a dude spending $1000 on a sweater or $400 on a "silk shirt" is a little ghey, but whatever floats yer boat.

I just thought it was kind of funny that the original poster drove to the dry cleaner carrying 4 shirts that cost more the car he drove them in.

You know, calling someone you do not know AT ALL gay is not a way to live a long and happy life. I am not a "dude," I am a man.

Suppose I should not be wearing a Rolex watch either? Should I sell the Porsche, Jags and so on and buy a VW? Move from my house into an apartment?

For someone who has 100 total posts, you are just a bit cocky you know?

The starter of this thread has a Jaguar, Mercedes and Land Rover. Not sure where you live, but where I live these cars cost a lot more than the clothing in question.

I didn't call you gay, but even if I did, exactly how would that prevent me from having a long and happy life?

A real man could certainly drive a Porsche or wear a Rolex. A $1000 silk shirt? I guess, although that's certainly more George Michael or Boy George than it is Steve McQueen or John Wayne, if you know what I mean.

Where I live, a '95 XJ6 with electrical gremlins, '82 MB 240D, or '81 Land Rover is not an expensive car, worth little more than a the clothes in question, or maybe a couple of your sweaters.

Last I checked all of those are 1500 plus cars.

Just in case you failed math. $600<$1500

You find me an RHD Series III for $600 and I'll buy that b!tch and give you $600 as a commission. I don't give a ***** if it doesn't have an engine, parts are a pain to get for this thing since it wasn't sold in the US in '81.

It depends on the condition of the cars in question. Plus you didn't include any applicable sales tax on the shirts. I demand an appraisal to see if my joke is mathematically accurate.

The Jag is parked.............permanently. Twice is the magic number as to how many times I'm willing to replace the same control unit after it shorts out and catches fire. If I were driving the Jag, you would be about right. I wouldn't pay a ******* dime for another Jag unless it had a warranty.
