Well, you don't have a girl keeping you up, or you wouldn't be posting this now, would ya? :p

porsche4life 04-18-2011 11:37 PM

Nope...

Really meant to go to bed sooner...

Just got done sending an email to the other adult on my trek with my concerns about the boys/their gear. Hopefully he starts taking me seriously soon. This bunch has to realize that this is no easy task, and I 100% intend to make it to all our scheduled camps on time. They may hate me the first day or two on the trail.

Night guys, off to read over my micro lab notes...

Good Freakin Mornin!

Up and patiently waiting for more intel to do my job. Don't know why I bother some times.

Porsche-poor 04-19-2011 07:21 AM

morning guys. I see all is well.

RKDinOKC 04-19-2011 07:24 AM

Here is what I found.

5.0 liter 928 S3 - 296hp.
5.0 liter 928 S4 - 315hp, intake manifold and cam changes.
5.0 liter 928 GT - 326hp, cam changes.
5.4 liter 928 GTS - 345hp, stroked and detuned cams.

There are 4 different cam sets with the 5.4 liter GTS having the smallest lift and duration. A combination of the S3 exhaust and GT intake cams provide the most lift and duration both intake and exhaust while remaining within Porsche stock cam profiles. This produces a 50hp gain on the GTS 5.4 liter. This is considered a very reliable hp upgrade as it is still using basically stock Porsche components.

I am considering increasing the valve spring rate as a While You're In There because it would need to be done if I ever want to go to forced induction like supercharging or turbo in the future.

For me, chip tuning is a given for ANY performance car. There are slight differences in every engine that the stock maps can't possibly cover for maximum performance/economy and more so any time anything is done to the motor. The stock chips should run any motor well enough to break-in cams.

The 928 has a really cool chip tool called the SharkTuner. You plug it to the diagnostic port and using a laptop and a wideband 02 just drive around. It builds the necessary basic fuel and timing maps itself! Then you burn Eproms with the new maps, swap it out and you are good to go...faster.

G-man, we are looking at engine replacement for our Cessna 206 Turbo. If we buy a factory rebuilt engine it is on special this month for only 35 grand. Of course that price requires a good rebuildable core engine. The core charge is 10 grand so it is 45 large if you throw a rod or something on the old engine. And you thought your engine was expensive. :D

Porsche-poor 04-19-2011 08:30 AM

Looks like my hours might get cut again.................

porsche4life 04-19-2011 08:33 AM

That sucks

Porsche-poor 04-19-2011 08:35 AM

yep it does but being a dual income family it will not hurt as much for me as others. Several others are single income.

That and I can spend more time here!!!!

RKDinOKC 04-19-2011 01:31 PM

Company I work for is doing very well. Sent me to work from home a little over a year ago because we ran out of office space. They added an office building, but have also added 100 full time employees.

Porsche-poor 04-19-2011 01:34 PM

I wish. Right now I just want some billable hours.

nynor 04-19-2011 03:12 PM

sid, i saw that you will be laid over here in slc for not quite two hours. i don't think that is enough time to hang out as you would have to leave the terminal and go back through security.

however, if you get here and things shut down due to weather or whatever, let me know. you would be welcome to stay here and i could come and get you.

d.

Porsche-poor 04-19-2011 03:18 PM

nynor I see that in another thread you got hte needed info on lead.
