Stijn!!

Wow I have had a very busy morning. I am posting while at lunch from my phone.

The phone rang more today than most weeks.

I finally caught up after last night. Hello all.

Hi David!

Porsche-poor 10-05-2011 08:59 AM

You did not like the owl picture? I took it a long time ago long before the fad hit.

livi 10-05-2011 09:02 AM

Oh, but I did. I really did. Nature pics in general are the best in my opinion. So alive, so full of mystery, so beautiful.

begin rant

so i bought a replacement mirror for the subaru off of ebay. my wife swiped the passenger mirror while going about 35MPH, the glass and housing are shattered. i got the replacement about two weeks ago.

this morning, i get the door panel off and the mirror off and open the box with the replacement. what do i find? not only is the mirror housing broken due to the shoddy packaging, not only is it the WRONG mirror, its from a FKN(!!!) NISSAN. JC on a popsicle stick!

this makes two ebay transactions in a row that suck.

/rant

In this case its a sad story. I told Dave it last night. While hunting in 1983 we found this owl. It had been shot by a JERK cause it was keeping him up at night. We kept track of him and found the game warden. He got his and the owl was captured and taken in for care. Probably then placed in a zoo some place as he would never fly again. I was probably only about 10 feet away when I took the picture and he was to week to put up a bluff all he could do was watch you.

when the item is not described correctly and mislabeled, there isn't much i can do. basically, the first seller flat out lied about the condition of the item. the second seller sent the wrong part and it was packed with a single layer of thin bubble wrap, not much i can do about that. as for the mirror, it is a $30 purchase for which i was charged $13 shipping. i am not willing to pay that shipping again for a $30 part only to have to deal with that incompetent seller again. i already ordered another mirror. we'll see what the mirror seller has to say. i am sure it is going to end up being a shouting match, which i am going to bypass by leaving negative feedback and reporting the seller as soon as he starts the match.

and, if i end up the proud owner of the NISSAN mirror, i'll resell it on ebay, but with the added courtesy of a correct and accurate description.

From when I was 8 until I was 17 I had a pet owl. It was a Great Horned Owl. Got it as an owlet from a neighbor that found it while hunting. Later I found they were endangered and a huge fine if you had a feather let alone a whole bird. I checked into giving it to a zoo and/or wildlife group and found they could only keep them alive for 2 years. I had already had it for 4 so I just kept it until it passed 5 years later from eating a mouse or rat that had been poisoned and got into his aviary. Since it had been raised in captivity I didn't think it would survive if I released it into the wild. I let if fly free all the time and it would return to me and land on my arm. Considered myself a night falconer.

Being only 8 when I got it I named it Herbert Hooter.

livi 10-05-2011 10:03 AM

That is really a sad story, David.

Man this working hard stuff makes the day fly by.

I am the only one here and I had a real live customer to deal with, a stack of jobs to get out, and now I need to make a very involved price quote.
