Good evening.
Have you started on the mushies? :)

nynor 10-19-2011 04:14 PM

not just yet. i am going to see if my current culture of kings is viable. if not, i will need to make a new culture. fortunately, the local 'whole foods' sells them, so i can just culture from one of theirs.

Cool, look forward to a pic when you get going.
Any good reading on the subject you can recomend?
Love to have a go one day.

i know there is some literature. however, i learned basic technique by searching the interwebs and then modified the procedures to my satisfaction. it is mainly about sterile/sanitary technique.

porsche4life 10-19-2011 04:53 PM

yep. glove box and all. i even have a flow hood available to me, i just need to pick the damn thing up. an autoclave (pressure cooker) is mandatory. and patience. lots of that.

thanks!

i think i'll stick to the king oysters this winter. not only are they the easiest, they are the tastiest. they are also purported to have health benefits. i don't know how much i buy into that stuff, but there it is.
