i replaced rear O2 sensor, now have P0430 code....

it seems that by replacing only the right rear O2 sensor (its heater was dead and it was throwing P1193, IIRC), the front sensor may not be working quite well enough, thus the P0430 code (bank 2 cat converter working below efficiency threshold).

my theory is that i may be able to swap the new sensor to the front, and vice versa, and it MIGHT fix the problem. perhaps the old sensor is not quite up to snuff and thus the engine is running a bit rich on that bank which the new sensor is picking up.

fermenting or adding vodka to the melon????

Kind like a hypo and an orange?

Rick V 11-17-2011 02:29 PM

Do you have access to a scanner that had data stream?

nynor 11-17-2011 02:29 PM

adding vodka would not require an airlock.

i have a scanner, but it doesn't have a data stream. but i see where you are going with this.

Its a plot to give all watermellons a bad name?

You can try swapping the sensors but I don't think it is going to help your issue. It is customary to swap sensors in pairs, upstream and down stream but not left and right.
I assume we are talking about the Subbie

nope. rover. and guess what? the sensors for that year are a 'special size' yep, they are totally cute and tiny. which makes them $150/each. but, yeah, in pairs. the shop did this, i am sure to try and save me money (i know the owner pretty well and he is way cool, so i don't have a problem with him trying to save me money). so, i have the sensors out, i am swapping them. the front sensor looks terrible, all white and corroded. i'll know pretty quick if this is problem. if not, swapping the rear sensor out is a piece of cake. the front sensor, not so much.

Where ya going?
Just around the pattern. I'm back! Nice little crosswind today. Made the landings a bit tricky!

Rick V 11-17-2011 03:43 PM

Drifting in an airplane?

nynor 11-17-2011 04:08 PM

drifting an airplane, try a slip dive to landing. that is the bomb-diggity!

nynor 11-17-2011 04:10 PM

rick,

i swapped O2 sensors around. even if it doesn't fix the problem, the next step is a new sensor. now that the old sensor is at the rear location, replacing it will be a piece of cake.

Evening guys... Its cold....

Flieger 11-17-2011 06:31 PM

How cold is it? You'll know it is too cold when the ground freezes and puts a damper on your pole pulling party.

Porsche-poor 11-17-2011 06:44 PM

Tomorrow is thanksgiving lunch at work. I plan to ruin everyones day. I plan the take in a turkey and run it on a rotisery (spelling) for about 5 hours to cook it. Should make the office a hard place to concentrate in.

Flieger 11-17-2011 06:50 PM

That is some ways off from the holiday.

GH85Carrera 11-17-2011 06:54 PM
