Rick V 02-02-2012 12:21 AM

Evening Jeff

slodave 02-02-2012 12:24 AM

'ello 'ello..

Rick V 02-02-2012 12:28 AM

I have enough trouble typing in English I am not even gonna try typing in Australian, so I will say Howdy Dave

svandamme 02-02-2012 12:54 AM

I had an ozzy coworker for 6 years.. they have a way with english

Don't say sunglasses, say "sunnies"
or nice colorfull things like
"you picked up a right swamp donkey the other night, you didn't drag her home didya?"

Rick V 02-02-2012 12:56 AM

Vas had me rolling down the hallway with some of the phrases he uses. It was great

azzarule 02-02-2012 01:43 AM

Vas, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaate ,

"About 6k to fix and give the whole thing a fresh up.
Or about 14k for the 5 speed."

Ouch ....sounds painful on the old hip pocket. Although it sounds like you were preparing for this eventuality, so I suppose you have been saving up your pennies like a good boy to pay for it.

azzarule 02-02-2012 01:45 AM

Aussies have what could be called colourful language skills, its not easy mind you, once you let a few things go, people expect it all the time!!!

But we are naturally funny!!!

svandamme 02-02-2012 01:45 AM

Imagine the fun i had language wise with my coworkers @ the previous gig
One Ozzy next to me
One Northern english other side
One Glaswegian Scottish
And the rest of the building
2 Edinbourough Scottish
Russian
Ukrainian
South African
NZ
American from Oklahoma
American from LA
Mexican
etc etc

i can't really do em on my own, can't remember the details to well, but i'll but i can pick up on those accents and adapt to em in minutes..
Even on the phone, typically by the end of the call, i'm speaking the other guy's accent.
I don't really have an english accent of my own..

last year , somebody from norther england visited my uncle, and i was there.
Ended up talking with em, and they asked if i had lived in Leeds or something, because i had the accent and sayings nailed down so well. (best mate at previous work was from Leeds).

azzarule 02-02-2012 01:46 AM

Oh yeah, evening gents!

I got that a lot when I work with the USAF for a couple of years. They were always poking at me to say something or to teach them a phase.

I remember a guy who heard me call a meat pie a maggot bag once and he picked up the saying, until one day he asked the local baker for a maggot bag and near got himself a flogging.

Outback Porsche 02-02-2012 02:01 AM

Time for bed for me. Nite all

Rick V 02-02-2012 02:12 AM

And you people say we talk funny here in the souf

Night Jeff
