I used to rock climb regularly and had a career-ending accident that put me in the hospital with a dislocated shoulder, busted knee cap, and half of my forehead missing.

I came out of that 'face plant' pretty well due to a damn good plastic surgeon.

However the girlfriends always say the same thing "you're scarred for life..."

Try 5 years as a competitve cyclist.

if you want to know what it's like; drive your car at 30mph, strip down to your underwear and jump out...

Schumi 12-02-2009 11:08 PM

Oh I know all about wild times:

20 foot drop in a super pipe onto my right shoulder and head... 5 years ago.. Almost all ligaments are torn in my shoulder.
Numerous face plants at around 20-30MPH on the water....
Kicked in the face during a mud football game...
Ate pavement on my Snoopy bike when I was little and wear scar to this day from that one.
Forehead into the corner of a glass wall - first and only time in a straight jacket for the stitches (I was 3-4)

the_webbster 12-02-2009 11:12 PM

case in point:

YouTube - Jens Voigt fall during Tour De France 2009.Stage 16. Jens Voigt horrific high speed crash.

only that was more like 45mph...

Morning, brothers. Where are all the sisters?

Schumi 12-02-2009 11:22 PM

You haven't lived until you've seen the surface of one of your own bones.

In my case, they gave me a mirror to look at my head when I got to the hospital. I could hold my hair back and see my own skull.

This was before everyone had camera phones unfortunately.

slodave 12-02-2009 11:27 PM

I have!!!! I cut myself down to the bone. At first it did not bleed, so I got a good look, then came the torrent of blood. Out camping, so I bandaged myself and could be found swimming a half hour later - though I did keep my hand out of the water.

Burned my right hand to a crisp too. That was fun. Yu don't know pain until you suffer 2nd and 3rd degree burns on your hand.

svandamme 12-02-2009 11:31 PM

i've had a double lower jaw fracture, kicked in the face by a horse..
chin just dangled around with some skin... i'm sure that counts

(although i can't remember diddly squat, full weeks worth of complete memory loss, that shows what kind of impact it had been)

Geronimo '74 12-02-2009 11:32 PM

I had a mosquito bite once, itched like hell. Mom made it go away...

:D:D:D:D

Morning Rick. Whoops....

Rick V 12-03-2009 02:44 AM

I thought I had fallen into an alternative universe due to hardons colliding and that this thread was actually just some of my residual self image or something else. Combine that with the noises I was woken up with it is too weird.
I think she would call it snoring but the wife was making sounds that I can only describe as Darth Vader being fisted by a large handed man while covered in brown gravy and locked in a cage with a rabid wolverine

svandamme 12-03-2009 02:47 AM

to much info.

Rick V 12-03-2009 02:52 AM

Hey, I put a lot of thought into trying to accurately capture the essence of those sounds
