you saw one and lived?

Yes they are the same. I grew up in Bend Oregon had it all and traded it in for well rain and white stuff once a year.

good evening, gents. this is me, poking my head up from playing skyrim.

Max, when it rains I wear the same stuff I would when out backpacking in the rain... My waterproof hiking boots... Good goretex boots, I can stand in a freaking river and be fine. I wear rain pants, they pack into their own backpocket and have full side zips, as soon as I get inside I take them off and toss them in my backpack. Same goes for my rain jacket. My backpack came with a rainfly, but its a $$ Osprey backpacking bag. You can get one size fits all rainflys for any pack though for ~$20...

I can walk to class in a monsoon and still be dry when I get there.... I don't ride my bike in the wet, its just too much wet to deal with inside my apartment.

Come to OK... We have big azzed tumbleweeds. They fill the ditches this time of year....

What brand are the clothes?

porsche4life 01-19-2012 05:21 PM

My pants are RedLedge and my jacket is a Marmot. Marmot clothes are by far my favorite, but I only buy marmot on closeout, its stupid expensive other wise.

Check here... Men's: Rain Gear at REI - Free shipping on orders of $50 or more

Most of my stuff came from Campmor, but that was back before campmor sucked... I buy quite a bit from REI now.

I will keep an eye out for closeout stuff. I just could never justify those prices living where I do. Last year's winter was pretty wet, but even then those prices are too high.

Mercedes update: talked to the shop again. There's 2k in mechanical damage, a minimum 1k to repair the front passenger floor pan and then a separate estimate from Mercedes for the seatbelts and sensors which could be anywhere from 4k to 8k....hopefully I hear from the adjuster tomorrow. It could go either way....

Had a brainstorm....an early Cayenne S falls in my budget and fits my needs and wants. Any opinions or things to look for?

porsche4life 01-19-2012 06:00 PM

Max, thats a good plan. It is coming into the time of year that stuff will be going on sale...

Joe, I've been told to stay away from the pre '06 pepper wagons... They do look good though...

And I farking hate windoze!!!

HHI944 01-19-2012 06:03 PM

Yeah, I vaguely remember hearing the same about the early cayenne.... im just wondering why?

porsche4life 01-19-2012 06:05 PM

Something to do with the coolant xover pipe

HHI944 01-19-2012 06:06 PM

So, potentially an issue that could be cured?

porsche4life 01-19-2012 06:07 PM

For several K.. Yes....

HHI944 01-19-2012 06:22 PM

Good to know....... there's the potential to find one for sale that has been cured already...

porsche4life 01-19-2012 06:30 PM

You better ask Rick though...

GH85Carrera 01-19-2012 07:21 PM

Started the day at 8am with 4.5 hours in dentist chair. Grateful I didn't wake up from the NOS pitching a tent this time. Made sure to eat lunch on the way home and before numbness wore off. Spent the rest of the day doing pain killer dozing. Now 11pm and pain killers just making it less noticeable and cannot sleep. Dentist has called every 4 hours to check on me, says will hurt for 3-4 days.

Hot chocolate...should include jigger of Buttershots, then the marshmallow count and or sugar content doesn't matter near as much.

Rain is why commuter bikes have fenders.

Friend has been wanting a Cayenne and the used ones are getting affordable. Last week he talked to a couple of Porsche mechanics, one dealer and one independent. They are saying they have a lot of problems. Know one person that bought one, then sold it within 6 months because it spent too much time in the shop (it was new and everything WAS warrantee). Know another that got one hasn't had a bit of trouble and loves it.

Everyone told me I would have problems with my cheap Range Rover, but it has been very problem free and dependable-knock on wood.
