'priciate it Sid but I am not going to have it done any time soon. I am going to wait till I sell the house and I don't need to work. Then It is a day down and a couple of months of therapy.

svandamme 03-31-2012 01:47 PM

that sucks
can't you fall over something at work, and then get it covered as a work related accident?

porsche4life 03-31-2012 01:51 PM

Needs to fall off something.... Meniscus is an impact injury. To much force on it and esplodes.

Rick V 03-31-2012 01:54 PM

Sounds like a great idea but I am not that type of person. If I get hurt at work yeah but I can't do it intentionally.

Rick V 03-31-2012 01:54 PM

Okay gonna go play with Beth, Y'all have fun

I had a torn meniscus fixed. I was about 17. The tear would fold over and lock up my knee. Sometimes I could get it to unlock, but most of the time, I had to grab my leg and force it straight, not exactly a painless procedure. The surgery was supposed to cut the torn are out. When the surgeon went in (arthroscopic), he noticed it could be repaired. I was supposed to be up and walking the next day. Because it was stitched together, I was in a full leg brace for about 6 weeks and on crutches. I had to go under the "knife" again a couple years later, but no problem was found. The original surgery had left me with 3 small holes in my knee and a scar 1.5" on the side of my knee where they had to pull some nerves out of the way. Well, about 3 or 4 years later, I lost the feeling in half of my foot. At the time, it did not dawn on me that it was probably because of the surgery. I went to other doctors to try and figure out the problem. One procedure involved needles being stuck into various parts of my lower leg and electricity was applied. That was fun! Eventually, the feeling did come back.

Good afternoon folks. Wow I am pooped. The weather here is great. I got the patio all cleaned up, the yard mowed and the AC compressor all cleaned up so the AC system is ready to roll. Oh yea I changed the filter in the central AC system. I am tired but I still need to wash my Elky and the wife's car. I may procrastinate on the car wash because it is supposed to rain on Tuesday.

GH85Carrera 03-31-2012 03:10 PM

So far my knees are doing ok. My right hip is my nemesis. I have a limp and my hip hurts most of the time.

vas930 03-31-2012 03:11 PM

Howdy, Glen.

Dave, what was the idea behind the electricity.
Trying to jump start the nerve?

What did you do to the hip?

porsche4life 03-31-2012 03:12 PM

My right hip and knee both hurt already, as well as my back. I don't want to be rocks age....

slodave 03-31-2012 03:15 PM

Vas, not a "jump start", but to see which nerves were affected. If I could feel the shock, nerves were fine, can't feel the shock and we know that that's the nerve area affected. It really sucked. Pushing needles into my leg hurt, the electricity hurt, and it hurt when my muscles freaked out and tightened on the needles in my leg.

vas930 03-31-2012 03:16 PM

One good thing about being short.
Seem to have less of this type of thing.
However, after some horrific Kart roll overs, the neck is not what it was.

Ah, the old shock test.
The type of thing thats worse than the original issue. :(

Now Vas, don't be silly. How could I ever think ill of the man who welcomed me to this thread with a bouquet of roses? Never! And I thought you fellas would know me better than that. I was only giving you guys a breather... you think I give up that easily? I was only being nice to you fellas. ;) Vas, no worries. EVER. I don't let a lot of things bother me. And if they do, believe me, you'll know. So don't worry, love. It's all good. :)

Rick, that is such horrible news! Do we need to have a Rick V bake sale? I have organized some killer fund raiser events for friends. Let's do it! How fun would that be? Let's get together and be merry for a good cause! Rick! Just give me the word Rick... we can have a Rick fundraiser night and Pelicans across the nation can chip in. So cool! He he!

No, Sid, I don't have a life. I just got done running my 4.5 miles. Yay, Vas! We were working out at the same time! So slow. But I have a 4.2 mile run in a couple of weeks and planning on doing another couple of half marathons in the fall. Need to get this butt in gear! Then maybe, just maybe I can only hope to wear the "cougar-in-training" underwear... don't think I would ever make it to the thong level...:p

vas930 03-31-2012 03:40 PM

Good to hear, Tweezers.
I did not run today.
Lifted some weights.
Shoulders and arms day.

tweezers74 03-31-2012 03:41 PM

Oh, and HHI, love note back to you under my avatar, love. Don't take it personally. Just trying to give you some tough love. What are you doing proposing to a girl with a phrase under your avatar? Goodness gracious, boy... we need to teach you a thing or two. :)
