Isn't one star better than no stars?

I'm not sure why anyone needed to rate that thread. Idle hands, devil's workshop, yada, yada, yada.

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:00 AM

So Jim got post #59000. We should coordinate to make #60000 a good one.

Jim Richards 04-25-2012 11:02 AM

That seems so far away...

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:05 AM

It might but I think it will come much sooner than you think.

GH85Carrera 04-25-2012 11:05 AM

Not if you get busy and really work on your end of the challenge, errr, self-improvement program.

Well, I am not allowed to talk about it anymore. And I am not requesting advice anymore. That is what was doing it. I post an excuse, someone gives more advice, I post another excuse...

(I do appreciate the advice I was given upon request).

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:12 AM

Yeah, come back Markus. Just because you are a big rock star does not mean you need to leave the thread!

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:17 AM

So I have to write a 3 page (no more than) (double spaced) report about a 60's band and a few of their songs. Meanings behind the words but also the sound. So I get to learn some musical terms which should be interesting. Needs at least 3 sources, only 1 can be Wikipedia. That's not a problem.

He taught a Beatles class last quarter so he said no Beatles. And he said no Dylan.

I am thinking Jefferson Airplane or Steppenwolf.

Noah930 04-25-2012 11:31 AM

Since when did Wikipedia become a reputable/citation-worthy source?

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:34 AM

Basically it depends on the professor. I wrote those English papers with Wiki as my main source, though I did put down the book too.

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:34 AM

Even if they do not allow citing Wiki you can just scroll to the bottom and look at the sources cited by Wiki and use those.

svandamme 04-25-2012 11:35 AM

lol, you guys write about 60'ies rock bands, as a class, in college??

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:36 AM

Yup. :)

It's the greatest GE class I've ever had! :D

Flieger 04-25-2012 11:38 AM

The Prof. is actually writing a book on the subject. Same title as the class: "Music of the 60's: War and Peace".

Noah930 04-25-2012 11:39 AM

As a resident or med student, there are patient rounds. Residents and students present patients (explain what has happened to them over the past 24 hours) to the team. In attendence during these rounds will be your attendings (professor doctors). They'll pimp you (ask you questions) along the way, to test your knowledge. Sometimes they'll ask you where you read whatever fact you raise. There are certain references you can cite (particular, well-regarded textbooks or journals). There are many references you cannot cite (i.e. quickie review books). Because if you were to do so, you'd get laughed off the rotation by your attendings. Back in the day of pyramidal (elimination) type residency structures, that would be a sure way to lose your job. You would not, under any circumstance, be able to say "because I read it in Wikipedia/off the internet/in Secrets (one of those quickie review books)/in People Magazine (or even Popular Mechanics)" without losing all face.

Dovo, the bomb disposal guys , they had a record year, 3400 interventions, 500 more then 2010.. WW1 is still going strong around here.

crap, enbedding doesn't work..

No offense--as you don't write the rules--but that's a total joke.

no such classes in our universities... no such thing as "electives".
