Thanks for making that a bit clearer for me.
Wayne's book does not state you can drop S cams in an ontherwise stock 3.2. It was for a 3.4, 98mm Mahle P/C's and 46mm carbs.... Not quite the engine I'll be ending up with... I'm going to the shop, and in the afternoon I'll be taking the rest of the engine apart. (I'll be online at my folks home as well) More updates later. |
don't take my word for it, check the engine rebuild forum.
It's not like i've built several engines myself, especially not 3.2 Carrera based... |
Well I finally met a dear who knows how to fight. He is gone but he took Peggy's muffler with him.. I was so pissed I had to make sure it was properly dead. Now My Uber-Quiet truck sounds just like the rest of the rednecks around here.

ended up joining NapForce 1 & 2 in their efforts, its 14h15, and haven't done much else today...
Gonna grab me a little bite to eat, clean up NapForce Headquarters a bit if i don't end up Napping after that eating thing... |
G-man: Put a turbo motor in there and be done with ithttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1264252932.jpg
600HP ought to get done:D:D:cool: |
Robert,
If only I had the funds.... (unless you wanna give me yours, turbo engine, that is...) |
Just ask Vicky to fund the build, not like she would ever hold it over your head (forever and then some)
|
Lending money, or even worse, begging for it?? No thank you. ;)
So far I managed to strip the thread of 2 exhaust studs, break off one (broke it off flush with the head...), get out 5, 4 remaining. Not touching the studs anymore :( I'll leave it up to the machine shop to get them out Disassembling continues.... |

You're listing a lot of expensive things that all in all, really don't offer much value... These are all just fancy tidbits that folks do when they have money to burn... All these things, with the exception of the bigger displacement.. add very little horse power or big differences to your engine feel. At least nothing that you won't get used to in a matter of months. Why would you want a lightened flywheel? it just makes the car harder to drive in normal traffic. Knife edging the crank, boat tailing the case, mooning the cyllinders... Those things maybe add 2 % more power.. that's 5-6 hp for you and me... at what cost?? The extrude honing of the intake, boring the TB... again, minor improvement... and if you do that, you better be gas flowing and polishing your heads...All for... what? another 10 HP? I'm sorry G, but it just sounds like you have written down every little bit of fancy gimmickery folks can do to an engine, and racers do those things , digging up every little bit of oomph they can find, for that extra bit of advantage on the track... and you made that list what your must have list... The only thing is... racers are nuts, they will dump more money in cars and engines then is sane... They also drive with roll cages, and cars that are ultra light... cars that for most people, are undrivable in traffic. tediously compromised... loud, and tiring. Squeeky brake pads, loud rattles everywhere... So you told us, that your budget is limited. So that's your compromise... don't compromise the other qualities of your car now... There's no point in all those things, if you just want a nice, drivable car, with fresh, mildly improved engine. Get the SSI exhaust, you'll have a great sound get it tuned for the new exhaust... , you'll get a 20 / 30 of extra horses Just don't dump buckets of money in things that aren't going to bring you a noticable increase in fun. If you do not intend on tracking the car, gutting the interior, upgrading the brakes, the suspension... Then don't go nuts with silly engine mods where the bang for the buck ratio is high on bucks, low on bangs. You'll just piss your money away... might as well sell your roller to me for 500 bucks... it's pretty much the same level of waste. |
:D:D
You re-read.... I wrote: I wanted, past tense... I will be replacing all that is required, bushings bearing, bolts and nuts, valveguides and springs, headstuds, rodbolts to be safe and all what is necessary I guess the 3.4 story is off the table, grrrr :(... Modifications will probably be, hot wire kit, which I already have, enlarged throttle body, SSI's and 2 in 2 out exhaust, probably cams as well.... Budget permitting, I will go for balanced crank, rods and pistons, knife-edging, boattailing and mooning, lightened flywheel (not a racing flywheel, a still streetable one, but lightened nonetheless...) Quite possibly, this will change in the near future, since I kinda suck at planning, have you noticed?? :D PS: squaeky brake pads, I already have. Pagid blue... P/C's 1 to 3 are off! 2nd PS: I'm not a racer but I'm definately nuts... :D:D:D Muwhahahahahaahaahaaaaa |

I'm not even going to do those things on my build, and mine will be a lot more crazy then yours because of the short stroke, crazy cams, high revs and MFI I really don't understand why anyone would spend money on those 3 things if they don't have unlimited funds... Especially not on a Porsche Knife edging the crank... big deal boattailing the case.. wow.. mooning the skirts.. you'll never see those parts you'll never feel the difference you'll just have a lightened wallet |
G-man: Stijn is right spend your money wisely, opening your port size biggest bang for your buck. Purchase the best hardware, Supertec head-studs, raceware rod bolts etc. If you want to produce power, you need to hold it all together. Cristine's HP will proablely increase close to 100HP. Also HP means friction & heat, address oil-cooling, larger oil pump, and more coolers.

My road to work is a deer infested trip. I saw a herd of deer flashing gang signs at me the other day. There were five of them just hanging out on the side of the road. A few days later a big sucker almost ran into the back of my car. They need to open up a extra long deer season and cull the suckers |
another productive money spending day, just closed another bit of the Parts Gap
6 that's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Six brand new , Bosch MFI injectors for 50 bucks a pop they normally go for 3 times that amount in ebay shops... it's just a smidgeon more then the what used injectors go for. |
