It was interesting yesterday when Beth and I were out and about. I am the type to hold the door for a person and that includes opening the car door for Beth and waiting until she is seated before closing it. It is just the way i was raised, and I know she has the ability to do it herself, and she doesn't need me to do it but my Mama taught me to always get a door for a lady.
We stopped by a yard sale that an old couple had and when we left the lady made a comment that I was a gentleman (bwahahahahaha) and she was proud of me.
We left a store and a guy was parked in front of me and after Beth was in the car and I was walking around to my side to get in he had to tell me he liked seeing that.
I know the womans lib movement kind of killed this type of behavior but have we gotten so far removed from doing polite things that it actually stands out when people see it?
Too bad this is what we as a society have become.

I'm old school like that too, Rick. :)

We are a dieing breed Jim, I mean Morning

Jim Richards 10-21-2012 04:23 AM

Morning Rick. With a little encouragement from my wife, our son is "keeping the dream alive." It's nice to see him show this courtesy to his GF.

My son does as well, not because he was taught to do it but because he simply observed the older men in his family doing it, so I guess it was passed on.
By the other side of the coin if I hold a door for you as you leave or enter a store, and you don't at least acknowledge it, I will say your welcome in a very rude manner that I make sure you will hear. :)

Good morning folks.

Sid, I know the suit is for your job. Yuck, a suit at work. I consider getting dressed up at work as the jeans with no holes.

I photographed several hundred weddings in my career. I had to wear a coat & tie. I hated it. One dumb bride decided an OUTDOOR wedding on the frigging 4th of July would be great. It was 104 degrees and I had to catch her as she was passing out from the heat. The ambulance hauled her to the hospital about 5 minutes after they were married. All the grooms men were in BLACK tuxes and the bridesmaids were in a dark purple. I was just happy I got paid and she survived.

Oh yes, that's me as well, I am a woman, an old one I admit, but I wtill hold the door if I am going through and there is someone else coming after me, but so often they don't even bother to say thanks, how hard can it be, or my pet hate, stopping for someone coming the other way in shops etc where there is not enough room for two people to pass, some bietches just march through not even acknowledging that you had to back up or stop for them, aaaaaahhhhhhhhh!! And here there are some biiiiiig people, so the not having enough room is a constant thing ....

Yes, that's one reason why I don't mind attending my kids' soccer games/gymnastics practice/birthday parties.

+1

I do this too. I'll also stand and greet someone when they enter my space.

Evening Y'all

Busy day yesterday. Spent the morning putting some airbags inside the rear coils on Dads car, and yard work in the arvo. Was in bed and snoring not long after dinner.
