I never figured out why people like Starbucks. There's a lot better coffee than the swill they peddle.

So Azzy, are you seeing any significant wind speeds out your way? We've been only getting 15-20 mph winds. Maybe picking up though, as the storm comes closer to land.

Well the coffee at home is so much better than Starbucks, sometimes I feel like pushing some of those people out of the way at the cafes and making my own, I had a latte last week at Panera which looked like a cup of tea no creme no taste, and the week before one that looked like a glass of hot milk, same order, a triple shot latte, go figure. Is the coffee scene in NY or somewhere more populated better than southern maryland. I see those shows on the TV and they are sitting around the cafe scene in NY or somewhere, drinking coffee, if its like the stuff we get here, they all need shooting to stay there and drink that.

Still raining.

Winds are only around 20mph with the occassional gusts, but nothing significant, a bit stronger at times last night, but supposedly it will "freshen up" later.

When I went to the Portland Parade a few years ago Starbucks was a sponsor. The hospitality room always has fee coffee and sweet rolls. I poured myself a cup of coffee took a swig and almost did a spit take. I looked around for a trash can to throw that horrible cup of crap and the coffee can was half full of coffee cups with a lot of coffee in them. I figured it was an anomaly and someone had just burned it. At the Concours that had a coffee booth with a Starbucks employee handing out free coffee. I figured that was going to be better. After one sip and I just poured it on the grass.

At one drive we met up at a large shopping center that had a Starbucks. Fortunately next door was a Burger King. I got some decent coffee at Burger King.

Good ol' Sandy. Wind's picking up, pressure's dropping, and rain's fairly steady, and power's still on. Knock on wood. :)

Evening All

News reports over here this morning have the east coast under water. Who would ever think the news media would sensationalize a story? Hope you east coasters are all okay. Stay safe guys.

Jeff,

not underwater yet, but we are getting really buffered by wind and driving rains. Trees around us are fairly moving around, just as long as they stay up !! All airports within cooee are closed, schools are closed for two days, all government offices are closed, shops etc. The hurricane has just reached land about 80-100 miles away to the north east, but the rains and winds are still stretching for hundreds of miles around the centre.

Areas that are along the coast are definitely under water, there are a lot of beach areas which really are just old sandbanks that they have built on and really they shouldn't have, but people like to have a beachside house!!! Well soon they will be closer to the water than just beachside!!!! They will be in it!!

azzarule 10-29-2012 03:04 PM

The US continents' east coastline is shrinking!!

Rick V 10-29-2012 03:30 PM

Evening Y'all. Can you believe I am under a blizzard warning during a hurricane. WTF

Having everyone home and indoors for a couple of days will be fun for you

We've experienced our fair share of cyclones in the past, living up in Darwin - can understand what your going through.

GH85Carrera 10-29-2012 03:32 PM

That big low pressure storm system sucks for the east coast but it is making for great weather here. Clear skies and mid 70s, low winds. Just great weather for us. Sorry for the major suckage back east. Like Will Rogers said long long ago........

Everyone talks about the weather but no one ever does anything about it.
