Have to agree with the folks that see close platonic relationships as dangerous. One of the two is usually looking at it differently...and the other is just fooling them self.

Given that much time together (away from the significant other) can't help but end up badly. The woman starts making unfair comparisons to the significant other (since friend is almost perfect because she only sees him when he is on his best behavior... In date mode), next thing you know, her SO does nothing right and she thinks she is in love. The guy falls in "lust" almost immediately. They usually gets the signals wrong from the start and believe the woman is interested physically if she pays any extra attention to him... He usually sees sex as the endgame (men are programmed that way) where the woman typically sees a storybook romance and "happily ever after" as the outcome. Both are usually missing something in their other relationship that they subconsciously feel they can find in this one. Doing so prevents their investment in their relationship with their SO and keeps them from repairing/enhancing that relationship. That is why prostitutes and online chatrooms have always been popular. Small investment for the return. Like leasing a rarely used tool like a wood chipper or stump grinder. Of course with relationships, why buy what you can get for free? Borrow the neighbor's wood chipper.

This thread is hilarious! :)

Then what, flint?
If you aren't married and a friendship takes a turn for the sexual, that doesn't necessarily mean once you do it the friendship can't survive.

If you were given two black boxes and told that one was a Thevenin circuit and the other was a Norton, how can you tell which is which? You have access to a multimeter but can't see inside the black boxes.
Just a multimeter? Wouldn't you need a potentiometer too?

I just look for the UA label and see if it says Norton or Thevenin. The Norton is so cool there is a motorcycle named after it. No one would want to ride a motorcycle named Thevenin. I can always use my Tricorder to figure out which is which.

As I typed that I noticed the banner ad was for National Instruments.

Wow, the ad software is amazing. I used to have several National Instrument boards in my computers. We used the GPIB (General Purpose Interface Boards) to talk to our film recorders.

National Instruments had tech support that is done right. I could call and talk to a real expert about a problem and they always solved the problem, This was back in the days of DOS 3.3 long before Windows. I sometimes was on the phone for an hour typing commands and reading the results to the support guy. There was no internet!

All Tech Support should be done like National Instruments did it because they did it right.

Well, I am still alive. Long interesting weekend. Finally caught up with the thread.

Tweeze - Happy Belated Birthday and Where is the HUMP DAY BIKINI PIC you promised...lol.

Rick - interesting halloween pic and looks like you had a nice day at the falls.

Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend. I spent all morning trying to catch up with all the work. When I am not here, all the lab work stands still and doesn't get done.

I spent all day yesterday at the VET. So my boxer started having seizures over the weekend. Monday she had 3 that were 4 hours apart. Still waiting to hear the results from her blood test. They are suppose to call me sometime this morning. I have her on some phenolbarbital until they figure out what the cause is just to prevent further seizures. She is only 6, but brain tumors are common in boxers. I really hope it's not that. Hoping for the best. She stuck by my side and helped comfort me through my cancer treatment. I would be heart broken to loose her at such a young age.

Jferr006 05-29-2013 07:10 AM

I'm a little squeaky today, a little oil might not be a bad thing for me too.

Thanks, Andy for the birthday wish. And shhhhhhhhh... I was hoping they would forget my stupid promise. ;) I think it was D that said he saved my post and I haven't seen him around...

And I love boxers. They are such good dogs. So sad to hear about yours. Seizures are scary. Hope everything turns out ok. :(

Time for another workout and then bed... Good night everybody.

meh.... he isn't YOUR brother. plus, you already have an in with the family. from my research in social psychology, that is the biggest determiner of relationship stability. are you going out again?
