Evening y'all.
I'm thinking that a lazy Sunday is the order of the day. :) Happy Birthday Azzy. |
pshhh, I'm working all day tomorrow......gotta make up for some of the British bleed
|
My condolences, Joe. It's been years since I was a slave to British cars. I'm happy that period of my life is behind me.
|
its been a good day, here.
we need a full report on the activity at seahawk's.... :) |

Afternoon all.... Been out tire kicking. Checking out bikes and cars... Threw a leg over a Daytona 675R and an 848 EVO Corsa... Both feel very good, would love to ride them...
Test drove a Fiat 500 Abarth. That little ride has a lot of front seat room really, and with the turbo multiair engine, it scoots. Would be a fun commuter car... Makes a nice sound too. :D |
D what do you think of LeeHs monster?

i like the color. the monsters are sweet bikes. air cooled is nice: simplicity. it is a solid motor in that bike. two caveats: given the age of the bike and its miles, i doubt the timing belts have been changed and should be done, regardless of the miles. same issue as the 944 and age of the belts. it can be done in your garage by you, although most owners wouldn't dream of it, again, like the 944 and the mysticism and voodoo involved. second caveat is the carburetors: i don't know that i'll ever own another carburetor bike again; my old triumph left a very bad taste in my mouth in that regard. that said, the new stuff is MUCH better, of course, and, when i changed the carbs to some new mikuni's, most of my carburetor problems went away. so, the upshot is, i like the bike a lot. i'd get over my phobia of carbs and buy the thing. the belts need changing IMO, ASAP, as i think that is a time bomb. you might want to have the dealer do it the first time to make sure its all good, as sometimes the valve keepers can crack, although i doubt that particular example has seen any abuse. the little fly-screen is a plus IMO, as it will push a lot of the air over you, like a windscreen would. Leeh's post says that he thinks that a float may be sticking, i'd get that sorted ASAP, also. that size of monster will lend itself to easy learning/riding because it is smallish and light. yet, it will have plenty of go and plenty of whoah. |

Ya, the offer I made Lee was taking the service into account. I think I will DIY it, doesn't look as complicated as a 944. Just go slow and triple check everything. I was planning on pulling the carb apart and go through everything. Again, not that much Voodoo. He is going to try selling it locally for a bit and see if he gets any bites, as it will be a few weeks before I could sneak out there to take possession of it anyways. So right now its a waiting game. I feel like at what I offered I can fix it and still not be upside down in it if I want to flip it come spring time. I've never been into the monsters, but I fell in love with that one. We'll see what happens. I really wasn't looking to buy anything for a few more months truthfully. |
Happy Freakin Burpday...
Good evening all. |
good evening.

so....what turbo you running on your 951?
|
My fastest setup was with the K27/8 set at 17psi boost. It had the turbine wheels lightened and balanced and a cone on the input wheel to help increase the air velocity. It also had a lightened and knife edged crank and a lightened flywheel. The barn door MAF was replaced with a autothority MAF and it used a Zeitronix wideband to monitor 02 and boost. It made 320rwhp on the dyno, but was very deceiving as it was the area under the torque curve that made it very very quick. Because the turbo was lightened it came on at only 2000 rpm and made full boost all the way to red line. Several track junkies I gave rides told me it was the quickest accelerating car they had ever rode in.
The Autothority MAF would run way to lean under partial throttle scceleration so I put bigger ejectors and the Lindsey MAF turner on it. After some adjusting on the fuel pressure and tweaking the mixture I got the acceleration from 2000rpm to redline in 3rd gear down to under 6 seconds with me and a 300lb pasenger. |
I bet you could take two seconds off that by removing the passenger seat. ;)
