Okay so I leave for Md monday after work, and they are calling for S****. I think I will be driving one of the companies rags, I mean cars

Rick V 03-14-2014 03:24 PM

So my nick name is Rick
my real name is Robert
My work shirt says Jack
The girl who wrote my expense check put both Robert and Rick on the check.
Today I roll into the bank driving a black ford with no tags on it, trying to cash a check written to someone I don't have I.D. for wearing a shirt with a completely different name on it. What could go wrong with this?
They never batted an eye.

OMG, that is good. around here, you'd be SOL.

my name is spelled darell. my driver's license says darrell. i couldn't get my check cashed, even though i had other forms of ID with the correct spelling. true story. i actually asked the manager if he was bovine. he looked at me like he was.

The part that I find funny is the chick who has been doing my payroll since October still is confused as to what my name is. Thank (insert deity) for direct deposite

i was super resistant to direct deposit. i just liked the idea of having my check in hand, etc. irrational, really. i even went so far as to remind the CEO of the large hospital i worked at that withholding pay was illegal, as they threatened to do just that for those that didn't have direct deposit. my wife put up with depositing my check until about six years ago.

then i just kind of mellowed and have done the direct deposit thing since then. in retrospect, i really don't understand my previous hang-up.

Rick V 03-14-2014 03:50 PM

The hang up is that in order to give them permission to make deposits you also authorize them to make withdraws.
I blacked that part out of the agreement on both copies and have it on record.

really? i've authorized my employer to make withdrawals? why would they even want permission for that?

Rick V 03-14-2014 04:05 PM

In case they over pay you they can go take the overage back out. It doesn't sit well with me

In this day and age, you're lucky you didn't walk out to be greeted by FBI agents

GH85Carrera 03-14-2014 04:24 PM

I love direct deposit, and electronic payments. My paycheck just appears in my account. My utility bills are paid on the day they are due not before and never late. They mail me a paper copy of the utility bill that says DO NOT PAY and I just grin and shred it.

porsche4life 03-14-2014 04:33 PM

Exactly glen. Plus with direct deposit I get my check on Thursday when payday is technically Friday. One more day it's drawing intrest in my account. :D

GH85Carrera 03-14-2014 04:34 PM

About the only paper checks I write are to renew tags or to the lady that cuts my hair.

porsche4life 03-14-2014 04:36 PM

I pay cash or credit for those. ;)

nynor 03-14-2014 04:36 PM

i can't even remember the last check i wrote. i think it has been years. i know my wife pays a couple of the bills with checks, but i use cash (from my allowance) or the debit card (when i run out of cash from my allowance). :)

Rick V 03-14-2014 04:37 PM

The only paper check I write is for my mortgage, I want a paper trail
