Anyone know much about the NG Hayek school in Miami?
I'm thinking of applying, looks like selection is a PITA, but it's 30k in free tuition compared to similar schools... |
Wow, almost got heat stroke today. Went for a measily 2 mile hike in the heat of the day and forgot to take some water. At 1-1/2 miles started getting really hot, couldn't make spit and started feeling nauseous. Sat under a tree until I cooled off and could stand up without feeling dizzy.

Hung over ugh...
|
Morning, guys!
|
walked and fed the dog. wife's sleeping in. at least I have coffee. off to the garage to tinker on the 73E...oil change, polish her up, go for a drive. it's Saturday.
|
We had a great HOT autocross today.
I am still trying to get used to my new suspension setup. The brakes are way better, but something still feels squishy in the suspension. I can only guess it is the new tires. |
Finally made it home. Got the poor blue car tucked away.

Really not sure what caused the spin.... He swears he wasn't pushing and his passenger confirms.... I'm trying to talk him into fixing it.... |
huh. that sucks.
we autocrossed today, also. no damage to any cars. it was slick as hades. |
Is that the same guy that blew the head gasket as well?
Triple digits out here and my window decides to stay in the full up position. Bad switch and blown fuse. Window works better now, than it has in years. Trade off, now I can't get the pax side up. Oh well, at least now I can make the autocross tomorrow. |
Ya.... Same guy that I helped do a HG... Stuff tends to go wrong when you mod past 400HP... But damn it was fast.... Hes got damage on the other end too... The dash is covered in grass/mud as the windows were down when it happend.... The radiator and condenser are pushed back against the motor and the hood won't open.....

There was a LOT of loose grass on the track when I arrived the next morning.
That's the only thing I don't like about the Sheriff's Training Center, it just doesn't have good run-off area in soo many places. You really have to keep that in mind when setting up the course. The truly sad thing is...when we specifically warn of a bad section in the driver's meeting, someone will go off there and mess their car up. I understand the Corvette club typically has two or three offs like that at every event! |
If what Matt and Brian say is true though.... Something went wrong... Crap tires... Suspension failed or something....
|
Morning, guys.
Wow, Sidney. Sorry about the car. |
Not my car Doc.... Just one of the PCA guys.... I took my trailer up and helped him get it home...
|
Brian's car was a nice but very modified car. Every highly modified car I have seen on the track seems to have problems. It is a shame he took it off course. I bet it will cost more to fix that car and then sell it than the parts are worth. Highly modified cars are very hard to sell. The market gets very small when you customize a car so much.
|
He already has more in it than it is worth honestly.... If he fixes it he will need to keep it or realize he will loose money to sell....

My turn. I broke my tranny at the AX today. On my 10th and last practice lap, I could no longer shift into 2nd. No timed runs for me today, but the new tires and rims were working for me. Every lap a second or two off the last. Brought it from a 72.xx to a 67.xx on the 9th.
I drove the car home with a partial 1st and solid 3rd and 5th. The good news, it looks like it was only the bushings in the shift coupler that disintegrated. One of the other PCA guys had a new one at home (close to Cal Speedway), so I followed him and have the new one to install. Oh yeah, there was about 75 miles of driving to get the car home. Fun! |
Slodave, I can now say "been there done that"
I noticed at the last autocross I was having trouble shifting. I drove the Chicago & back with a shifter that was a pain to get into 1st & second. At the autocross yesterday I decided it was time to fix it. It is a ROYAL PAIN to get the center console out of a 1985 Carrera. I got everything apart and this is what I found. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1279506708.jpg I think I found my problem! The bushing was in two pieces. I did not have time to get everything back together so I have not driven it with the new bushing yet. I can't wait to experience the new and improved shifting. For those that don't know, the black bushing right behing the two pieces is what the bushing is supposed to look like. |
Man you guys are a bunch of whiners... We used to have an '89 dodge pickup. Occasionally you would go to shift and the lever would come off in your hand.... It would snap just above the floor at a joint.... So... You had to quickly grab the crescent wrench that was kept on the floor for this instance and clamp it to the stub to keep shifting...
And that thing always shifted worse than a tractor... |
