Lol, did you buy a dog?

GH85Carrera 10-26-2010 04:33 AM

Rick, that is a cute pup.

Good morning guys.

Hopefully I get my El Camino back today. It will have been a full week today. I dropped by yesterday and the seat was in pieces on the floor of the shop. It is amazing to see them make the seat coverings. They were working with just cloth & vinyl. These are not some cheap Chinese made covers.

They are adding about one inch of new foam to make up for the 25 years and 289,000 miles of sitting. It was amazing to see just how faded and dirty the old seat cloth was. They said the seat itself was in amazingly good condition.

I asked him about redoing my 911s leather seats. He said that would be about $1900 bucks.

No Chess, "The Band" was the hard core party group so it wasn't as bad as all that.

Glen, his prices must have gone up. He quoted me $700 a seat for my 944 Turbo and $400 to $500 for my Rover both leather.

GH85Carrera 10-26-2010 06:07 AM

That is the price for both seats. They are full leather now. I will wait a while. They are in pretty good shape still. I just talked to the shop. The Elky will be ready at noon. :D

GH85Carrera 10-26-2010 06:09 AM

I asked him about restiching the steering wheel. He siad it is a lot of work and quoted 300 bucks :eek: And that is to use the old leather cover!

I can buy a replacement way cheaper.

Just got back with my El Camino. The seats look great. He found OEM material and did a great job. The seat sits different. It is like getting your old favorite chair redone. The new foam is a little firmer and I sit a couple of inches higher in the car now.

The seats look like brand new.

Thats reassuring.... My wheel needs restitched.... Guess I need to find one to practice on....

That 928 guy charges $300 to restore a steering wheel. And $1575 per leather seat.

nynor 10-26-2010 07:39 PM

Copied from the Mulholland thread for those that don't pay attention to it. :)

In a surprise twist of fate as I was leaving VNY this afternoon, I was approached by a pretty hot blonde (color was probably fake). I'm not sure I caught it at first, but she asked if I knew about Elite Aviation's FBO and how to get in as she was to (I thought) pick up none other than Charlie Sheen.... :D After talking for about 15 minutes or so, it became apparent that she was not there to pick him up, but rather was paparazzi.... By the card I was handed by another guy there, I am guessing they worked for Star Magazine. We parted ways, but as I was driving down Havenhurst, who pulls out of another gate in a limo.. Charlie Sheen. Sooooo.....

Here's his limo leaving. I then called the number on the card and told them he was behind me.... I tell them we are both turning left onto Sherman Way at that point. I hang up the phone and moments later a callback... It's the paps and they're right behind me and now the limo is on my right. Interesting afternoon.

Before we all left, I mentioned that there was a sign on Mulholland with the name "Sheen Ravine"... I still had a pic on my iPhone, so I whipped it out and we all gt a laugh out of it.
