My sister used Mexicans for that cleaning part too. Probably had something to do with being in Harlingen TX and right on the US MX border. I was just the U-Haul driver.

The weather here is fabulous. 72 degrees and mild breeze. I wish I was out in it.

Oh Haha 04-02-2016 04:02 PM

Yep, the weather folk are saying we could have 4 to 6 inches of snow by Monday am.

Down to 7 girls. One bailed right after supper but she has been invited to stay many times and always has some reason to say no.

I can't believe my Mom used to cook for 6-7 mouths every night. I made sloppy joes and Kraft M and C for supper and thought there was plenty. We have NO leftovers!

Makes me appreciate what she did for us all that more. Like most Moms of that vintage, she could make a meal out of most anything.

We're getting the temperature drop and high winds tomorrow. The winds should get more reasonable by the time we leave the DC metro area.

Mmmmmm, brats. It's been a while since I had any.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/lickout.gif

Hahaha! Since we don't have any furniture now, we had to stay in a nearly hotel. We're taking up three spaces there.

By this afternoon, it's bye bye DC metro area.

azzarule 04-03-2016 03:08 AM

I may be carless when you come thru. Cayenne goes in for an intake gasket in the morning. The 928 motor is still on an engine stand and I'm too cheap to rent a car and I don't even know what it cost now-a-days. Don't think my brother do anything but laugh if I asked to borrow his T-bird.

When in college a couple of buddies and I wanted to see the first Star Trek movie when It first came out. We were in Stillwater OK and the closest theater was in OKC 75 miles away. None of us had a car and they wouldn't rent us one because well, the car rental places in Stillwater refused to rent a car to any of us under 21 college students. The bus wouldn't get us anywhere near the theater. So we rode our 10 speed bikes! Made it in time to stand in line and watch the first showing, crashed at one of the guys parents house. His parents didn't mind us drinking beers, but his Mom did remind us a couple of times that we we were riding our bikes back to school the next day. Got up the next day and leisurely rode our bikes back to Stillwater. We actually had fun despite a couple of grueling stretches that were all up hill on the way back.

Richard, try Uber! ;)

Good luck on the journey Jim. Let me know your ETA for the area.

RKDinOKC 04-03-2016 06:28 AM

Never tired Uber. Didn't even know we had Uber around here.

GH85Carrera 04-03-2016 10:11 AM

I have never used Uber personally but the guy you know that I work with loves it. Of course he only uses it for certain occasions since he has one car of his own, a pickup truck, a motorcycle and three street legal scooters and a bicycle on top of his daughter's car. He has used all of those at some point to come to work.

RKDinOKC 04-03-2016 11:17 AM

An uber from my house to someplace along I-40, say to eat in Bricktown is from $15 to $20 each way...and the minimum is $5 even if you cancel.

I can rent a car for $30 a day. They have a special going you can get one all weekend for $10. Not that that does me any good.

The Shop I take my Porsches to gives me a ride home. But I gotta make my own way back to pick it up. My bro usually takes me as he lives less than a mile from me. An uber would be $20.

When I had the boxster the dealership would either give me a loaner, or a rental if they were out of loaners. Could drop the boxster off on the way to work and still make it on time. That was pretty nice. They only do that if you buy your car there. Think its why the usually charge around $2K more for a new car versus buying one at a dealership in Dallas.

GH85Carrera 04-03-2016 11:53 AM

I sure hope they fix the pepper wagon faster then the 928.

RKDinOKC 04-03-2016 12:48 PM

I certainly hope so too. I don't want to have to buy another car to drive while those are in the shop, Honestly thought two was enough. Knew the Cayenne would need something done eventually hand hoped the 928 would be back on the road before then.

They told me they just hired a new mechanic that is really good and he would be able to get back on the 928. But said at this point thinks it would be foolish to make me any promises as to when he would have it done.

The following needs to be done...

Finish assembling motor, need intake and plumbing/electrical.
Install new bigger injectors, he hasn't gotten them yet.
Install custom tuned coated headers.
Install Engine in car
Replace seal on front of transmission
Make X-pipe for new headers, says he can do that. Gave him dimensions for best configuration tuned for those headers.
Fix dash pod, (half of all the instruments quit working while in the shop.)
Tune for new injectors and headers (Already have software and custom programable chips in DME and ECU, and wideband O2 to tune the car with)

Uber is great, cheaper than cabs!

And Richard, check out Priceline or orbitz. Usually you can pick up a cheap car for 10 or 12 a day!

Jim Richards 04-03-2016 05:24 PM

We're a few miles away from the VA/TN border. We can't wait to leave VA behind...right after breakfast. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/sleep.gifhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo.../coffeecup.gif
