That's why I missed it.

That was when the dealer was a super nice guy and really supported the club. The current dealer does not even like the PCA as far as I know.

I am sure that new 911 will loose more dollars in value in the next few years than my car is worth and my car is still going up in price. I just can't wrap my brain around paying the price of a new Porsche. The base model of the 911 has a MSRP of $84,300  The "Turbo is $151K :eek: and the Turbo S is $182K :eek::eek:

You should see what a turbo S with some options is, and then they call us and we start having our way with it... Can easily push another 20-30k into one at our shop without trying, and that's all bolt ons, we don't open up the motor!

My boss used to work at a local shop known for building 1500hp turbos. He said some of those builds had 200k, just in engine work!

Remember one of the first times I saw Tanner Foust. He was doing a supercar shoot out. They were going one on one thru a course that had an ese, curve, then log straight. They had all kinds of cars and most of them tunered. They had ask one guy to bring his Carrera GT, instead he brought what looked like a stock 911 Turbo. He was the only one that wouldn't let them see under the hood and refused to tell them about it. All he only made two comments about it. He brought it instead of the Carrera GT because he didn't want to bring a knife to a gun fight and it was his grocery getter that his elderly Mom drove to the store. Tanner rapped on a fender and made the comment that he thought it was carbon fiber even though the Turbo looked totally stock.

When it came to the race is was down to this guy and a 9ff tuned turbo 911. They had shown the 9ff as beating just about everything by a couple of car lengths. Through the twist bits they were pretty evenly matched which was pretty fast. But when it came to the straight this guy' Turbo left the 9ff like it was standing stil. He crossed the line before the 9ff got halfway down the straight. Very very impressive.

The 928 guys are having a gathering in Rockport TX this weekend. They call it the Spring Fling. Part of the weekend's festivities is to go to the Texas Mile races happening this weekend. Because a lot of the people get bored watching they have started adding other activities of tours, a museum, an aquarium, antiquing (for the wives), off shore fishing, and a local gun range. Think most people really go for the Friday and Saturday evening dinners followed by the parking lot after parties at the hotel. They are a fun group. Most meet up in the Dallas area and drive down and back together.

If the GTS were running I would be there.

Good morning!

For those of us that still care what day of the week it is... IT'S FRIDAY!

I must say setting my thermostat back just one degree at night has made all the difference in the world. Slept wonderfully. Pepper woke me up once at 1am, but that was just to get me to abandon the Lazy Boy and go to bed. She was successful.

RKDinOKC 04-08-2016 04:21 AM

When I was 7 Dad drove us from OKC or Orange CA and he drove almost straight thru non-stop. We were going to see my brother and his new wife. He was stationed in CA and it was not long after coming back from his tour in Viet Nam.

We left before light that morning. We were supposed to stop for the night in New Mexico somewhere, but because it was the 4th of July weekend everything was full for the local rodeos. Dad finally gave up on finding a room and spent a couple of hours napping in a parking lot in Flagstaff with the local police watching over us and other roomless travelers.

I vaguely remember us not staying where we were supposed to. And waking up for a very short time to see all the cars in the parking lot with people sleeping in them and Dad talking to the policeman before we parked. I didn't wake up until it started getting light and we were on our last leg across CA.

We traveled a lot when I was young. Either to go to Grandma and Grandads, or to go fishing. Dad was a traveling salesman before I was born and liked driving straight thru without stopping even to see the sights. He still stopped for most of them, but he really didn't want to. We always stayed with family or friends on our trips instead of motels.

It's Friday? Huh? I could have sworn it's Saturday.

Oh Haha 04-08-2016 04:29 AM

Happy Friday gang!

Are you guys getting email notification from Pelican on new posts?

GH85Carrera 04-08-2016 04:30 AM

Happy Friday folks.

Sid, I am fully aware of how easy it is to put a few tweaks into a engine or car and spend crazy money. The Porsche factory can do it as well. Back in the good ol days when we had War Bonnet Tech the factory sent some over the top display parts to give away as door prizes. They brought a titanium connecting rod from the 911 engine that won Le Mans one year. They gave it away as a door prize. I got to hold it and drool on it. It is just feather weight light. Another year they brought a titanium drive shaft and a standard steel one to compare it to. Again amazing difference. One of the racers said a pair of titanium drive shafts were over 20 grand, but it made a significant difference in weight right at the rear. Hans Mezger was a great speaker one year. Hanz taught me first hand never try to keep up with a German drinking beer. I was real glad all I had to do was stagger back to my room. He brought over an entire Indy TAG turbo engine from the F1 program.

The did not give away the drive shaft. They left a entire rear suspension of the then brand new 993. I have a rear hub and a cross member from that 993 suspension on the wall in my garage as decorations. The crate they shipped it over in was darn near furniture grade hardwood. I have several parts of that crate in my garage as a stand for my vacuum pump.

No email notifications for me, Wayne.

It looks like we may see some rain today. It has been clear every day, so far.

RKDinOKC 04-08-2016 04:42 AM

No notifications here.

Every day is Saturday now for you Jim. You only need to keep track of your tee time days now.

Oh Haha 04-08-2016 04:54 AM

Seems to be an issue with the new servers.

Last day of spring break for the kids today. Wife has been working long hours and has to work the weekend so we haven't done anything special.

GH85Carrera 04-08-2016 05:04 AM

Wayne, if you subscribe to a thread, you will get the notifications. It is handy for some obscure threads on the technical side. With this thread that would be crazy.

Oh Haha 04-08-2016 05:07 AM

Yeah,I am subscribed to several threads in the forums but not getting any emails from Pelican. Oh well.

Rained pretty hard here last night. First time in quite a while for us.

RKDinOKC 04-08-2016 09:11 AM

The Cayenne is getting dirty enough that washing it is likely to cause rain here.

flipper35 04-08-2016 09:24 AM

It slushed here this morning.

Sid, you guys get 4" a year, maybe?

ckelly78z 04-08-2016 09:42 AM

So, expecting 1"-3" of the white crap today, I am so ready for 70 degrees, and sunshine.

Wash that pepper wagon! We could use some rain. My new sod would thank you. I am real glad I have a water well for my sprinkler system. Mrs Carrera insists I water every night for the sod. It is just a few button pushes to set the schedule so not a big deal. With the standing water rationing the city is imposing on watering the yard I might have gotten a ticket without the well.
