Good luck on the computer upgrade, let me know if there are any problems with email I can help with.

Thanks, but don't need an ECU flash. It's got programable chips in place of the stock chips for both ECU and DME, and software that runs on a laptop and an interface that connects thru the stock diagnostics port. You can use the Wideband 02 and knock sensors to real-time auto tune the programable chips. Or you can log everything and download the maps auto tune, tweak them with nice graphical maps then upload them back. Also lets you set it for different injector sizes, red line cutoff, idle rpm, when wot map kicks in, timing advance parameters, basically anything that can be set on the cars computer. It is called the Shark Tuner. Pretty cool for a 94 car.

The Shark Tuner is made by a guy name John Speake in England. Jim Corenman is his USA rep and has been tuning and tweaking 928s for a long time. Jim sent me the drawings and specs for the x-pipe they developed that gets the best results for my engine, cams, and headers. Even has a base map for my upgrades to start tuning from. They are telling me we should get 380 to 400 rwhp. Not bad for an NA car that was 350 at the crank stock. Guy the just did the cams like I have got 360 rwhp every thing else stock.

Mustang dyno time would speed up the tuning process tons though. And lets you run it thru it's paces without the risk of tickets.

Got the Shark Tuner when I put the different cams in after the driver's side valves crashed from a cam breaking. The guys putting on superchargers use the Shark Tuner also. There is a stock octane switch the supercharger guys use for a valet mode that changes maps so they can change the throttle map, timing, and redline to make the car a dog without hurting anything. Because once it's tuned it tuned some guys just get the chips and several share the cost of the Shark Tuner interface and software.

Sorry I was thinking of the pepper wagon not the 928! We don't have anything for the older cars!

Sorry, already uploaded a tune to the Pepper Wagon too. They were running a sale in the Cayenne forum right after I got it. They said it was going to add power and get better mileage. Did noticeably add power, but didn't improve gas mileage which is what I was after. At least it didn't get worse gas mileage. I'm afraid what it is going to need in the near future is motor mounts. Been hoping to get the GTS back before I have to do them.

And I'm not one of those guys that wants to hot rod up or make a track vehicle out of a 6000lb SUV.

One of the things I'm interested in is white gauge faces. They are $750 at Suncoast Porsche.
Losing my vision the red needles on black background were often very difficult to see. Especially wearing sunglasses.

Also interested in upgrading the 2004 PCM to something that does bluetooth for my iPhone and has up-to-date NAV maps.
There is a replacement called a Dynavin that seems very popular that integrates with the MOST Bose amp/speakers, and the Canbus for the steering wheel Buttons and uses the stock satellite antenna for GPS. It's $900. I think it runs on Android OS.

Just don't want to spend too much on a $10K vehicle.

Who did you use? Just out of curiosity?

RKDinOKC 04-23-2016 10:40 AM

VR Tuned, you guys sell that don't you? :)
Got it from Dan at Vivid Racing.

Sound familiar?

porsche4life 04-23-2016 07:40 PM

It's our in house product! And Dan is the owner. He does all the tuning stuff!

RKDinOKC 04-23-2016 08:58 PM

How bout that.

Oh fcuk

Every ones singing to working class man

We must be pi55ed!

Oh Haha 04-24-2016 05:21 AM

Apparently, the new neighbors didn't get the memo about NOT running lawn equipment before 11am on Sunday mornings.

Of course, the dude also has a diesel Dodge turbo with no muffler that he lets run at 5 am.

I'm sure the next door to them family is loving it.

RKDinOKC 04-24-2016 05:34 AM

Not one of those people that just let diesels idle like they are running a refrigeration trailer?

Oh Haha 04-24-2016 05:39 AM

Yup.

He must leave for work around 5am but starts it at 4:45.

The first morning he did it my daughter woke up as her room is in the front of our house.

RKDinOKC 04-24-2016 05:54 AM

Most of the newer diesels manuals say to NOT let them idle after startup for more than 3 minutes.
They also say to shut them off it you are going to let them set for longer than 1 minute and it only takes the turbo a max of 30 seconds to cool down after being driven hard. The only exception being a 7.3 Liter, for some reason they have problems hot starting in situations like ambulances. Drive like heck to pick someone up. Shut down immediately without it cooling at all, then after the short time to load the patient up it won't start.

Idling they burn a gallon an hour. And cool off enough idling that it gets an incomplete burn and starts washing the cylinders, etc.

Refrigeration trucks are different, the idle is set higher to take the load of running the refrigeration units and keep the engine warm enough to burn and lubricate properly.

Oh Haha 04-24-2016 05:58 AM

This one is an older crappy truck.

It sounds like a Peterbilt.

RKDinOKC 04-24-2016 06:14 AM

Probably sounds like a Peterbuilt because he has worn the sucker out letting it set there idling all the time.

RKDinOKC 04-24-2016 06:16 AM

Made a mistake and looked at my eye in the mirror. It's not blood shot, the WHITE HAS TURNED RED!

Got the news I've been expecting for a few weeks. Grandma passed away early this morning. She's been slipping deeper into dementia for the last year. Last time we were in OK she knew who I was but barely. Over the last few months she was getting much worse. She was home for her 86th birthday in March, but went into the nursing home earlier this month once it got to where she didn't know who she was or who my aunts that were trying to take car of her were. Didn't know where she was and hardly spoke. This week she finally got the point that she wouldn't eat. Sad that she's gone, but relieved that her suffering is over.

pete3799 04-24-2016 11:06 AM

Sorry to hear Sid.
RIP Grandma.

RKDinOKC 04-24-2016 11:39 AM

Condolences. Know all about that dementia stuff.

GH85Carrera 04-24-2016 11:58 AM

Stijn!!

Sid, sorry about you granny. I don't think anyone ever would want to live on like that. It is for the best, unless you own nursing homes and make money caring for them.

We had a fun Autocross today. Good turnout and some neat new cars. One new GT4, one new Boxster spyder, and a new vette Z06. One club hot shoe with a stripped and highly modified Mitsubishi Evo is usually FTD. Not today. The 2014 911 Turbo beat them all.
It was amazing to see 1000 mile GT4 come within a few hundredths and it is the first time he has had it on track.

They were all several seconds faster than my 30 year old 200 HP toy.
