as far as the pain goes yep its still here. Went to the doc yesterday. Rib is not broken or cracked its the cartilage that's torn so time lots of time.

I've personally drifted a Ryder rental truck (full) and car trailer (also full) successfully sliding thru a slalom like maze of wreckage on a wet rainy highway at 3:am.
|
skill at its best.
|
It all seemed to happen in an erie super slow motion. Especially with it raining, could see the individual drops like in the movies. Was grateful of two things. First, barely avoided slamming into the rear of my sister's mini-van (also full of their stuff) at 70mph. And second, didn't hit one of the wrecked vehicles or debris scattered on the highway causing me to add all my sister's stuff and car to the wreckage.

skill and a lot of luck.

Stopped after making it thru everything to wait for my sister in the minivan. A trucker in a rain slicker came up to my window from the other side of the highway. Told me he saw the whole thing and he just wanted to shake my hand cause it was amazing to see me slide around thru all that wreckage without hitting anything.
I attribute it all to autocross experience. After two years of playing around once in a while (when it's safe traffic wise) daily driving the Cayenne. The other day I actually got it to 4 wheel drift around a corner. Wasn't able to duplicate it the one time I've tried since. It ain't easy, the thing does NOT want to slide at all, PSM takes over. Have to get the timing and speed just right. Had to be completely out of the brakes and done downshifting using the tiptronic in manual, then turn off the PSM and then get on the gas while starting the turn-in. If you have the PSM off and hit the brakes it turns it back on, then limits the throttle going into and thru the corner to keep it from drifting. If you aren't under full load even in manual mode it upshifts so you can't spin the wheels. When the Cayennes first came out I test drove one. The local sales guy I was with was cool and didn't mind me trying to get it to drift. I couldn't even after several tries. The salesman said he would have been very impressed if I did. Said as part of their introduction he had gotten to ride with Hurley Haywood in one and he couldn't get it to slide on a wet track. |

When I first got my El Camino it had the typical peg leg rear end, one wheel drive. It sucked in the snow or ice. I finally added limited slip and it does great in slick conditions now. I used to wonder why all cars did not have limited slip from the factory until I drove it in the rain. Do not ever think you can accelerate much while going around a corner in the rain or slick conditions.
Now after many years of driving it in the rain, I can have fun. It is REAL easy to hang the tail out but it would be real easy to loop it as well. I have never spun it, not even once but I have had the tail step out on me going around corners. With both tires spinning it has zero lateral traction. So the answer to why all rear wheel cars don't have limited slip is because you have to know how to drive. With modern traction control it is no problem. Not so much with 1980s (really 1960s) drive train technology. |
modern traction control is good but some times annoying. My RDX is all wheel drive and sends power to the wheels that need it and reduces to others. At times on snow and ice you can feel the constant changes.

I have no fancy ringtones. :(
|
I used to have one that sounded like a 917 at full tilt.
|
My standard ringtone is the opening to Thunderstruck by AC/DC.
|
another good one!

Any of these work?
BananaPhone Old default ringtone. WhiteTrashMama 928GTS Brick House Wango Tango Current default ringtone Hello Again The Funk Steve McQeen Something Good They are m4r ringtone files. My browser plays them. |
My wife used to have a flat 6 ringtone for when I called her.
My general ringtone is the old time phone. My older sister has Matt McConoughhay saying "ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT" for her text notice tone. It's cool for about 3 texts and then it gets old. My text notice is "Meep,Meep". The Roadrunner! |
That is a hip ringtone you have there Richard! Uncle Ted!
