Hey fellas! It is Friday!

I've got a full detail to do on the widow's minivan this morning. It's supposed to be close to 100 today. Yea, it's not Southern hot but still....

Have a good one.

RKDinOKC 07-22-2016 03:50 AM

Friday!

Jim Richards 07-22-2016 04:28 AM

No kidding? I could have sworn it's still...

TGIF.

The computer upgade worked as expected. My system was down to 260 Gig free space on the old mirrored drives. Now I have 1.2 TB free space. It won't take long to fill it up with our giant files.

Of course there are always "challenges" also know as problems. QuickBooks is unhappy and wants me to put in the original CD. We downloaded the last upgrade right from Intuit. No CD to insert. I will likely have to remove and then reinstall Quickbooks. I will leave the old mirrored drives alone and unplug them, and upgrade to Win 10. If that works OK as as it is supposed to, I will format the old old drives and make em storage drives.

Please tell me this is not real:
State Dept. spokesman calls out reporter for playing Pokemon Go in briefing - CNNPolitics.com
I have the strange feeling some find this funny and totally ok.
I dont want to live on this planet anymore ...

GH85Carrera 07-22-2016 04:37 AM

I did not click the link, but not much surprises me about reporters. If they are the same as when I was a news photographer I believe the story.

On countless occasions I met a reporter at a "story" and took pictures as the reporter did the interview or covered the event. I would read the paper the next day and admire my fantastic photography skills, and then wonder what the reporter saw or heard that I did not see or hear. Quotes were misrepresented and facts were skewed big time.

RKDinOKC 07-22-2016 04:44 AM

They also probably had the reporters waiting around for at least and hour before making their statements.

When I am stuck somewhere waiting I usually play Sudoku on my phone not Pokémon Go.

Porsche-poor 07-22-2016 06:25 AM

morning all. TGIF! tomorrow I can sleep in a bit.

GH85Carrera 07-22-2016 06:28 AM

Like the skydiver used to say "so far so good!" on my Win 10 upgrade.

Oh Haha 07-22-2016 06:32 AM

Well crud.

Still waiting for the lady to bring her van to me. I was hoping to have it done by noon.

Called her and left a VM.

RKDinOKC 07-22-2016 06:40 AM

Has anybody ever met a real hoarder?

Have met 3. One was a neighbor and two where friends of my parents. The neighbor and one of the friends of my parents became hoarders after their spouses passed. The other friend became a hoarder after a divorce.

The two that snapped after their spouses passed even bought more houses to put more stuff in.

Porsche-poor 07-22-2016 06:47 AM

Yes My mother-in-law. Driving us nuts now that she has moved up here.

RKDinOKC 07-22-2016 06:59 AM

Was there only a path that went from the door to a chair, the toilet, one bed, and to the fridge and that was it? The rest was stacked with boxes and bags of stuff? Even the kitchen was staked up with stuff so you could only get to the fridge and a microwave.

One lady, I never saw her home, but her car was full to the ceiling everywhere except the driver's seat.

The neighbor, his back yard and beside his house was stacked with building stuff, lumber, cinder blocks, corrugated metal/fiberglass, tires, bricks, etc. His front porch, half the width of the house, had a path to the door, the rest was stacked to the ceiling to the edges of the porch of boxes full of stuff. Drove by one time and the garage overhead door was open. It was packed floor to ceiling with barely room for the door to close. Not really sure how there was room to even open it.

With my car being actually worked on I've still got a relatively small pile of stuff from my Mom that my sister didn't want that thought I wouldn't want either. With my vision declining horribly I just haven't bothered to mess with ANYTHING. Basically I am NOT a decorator have no desire to become one and re-decorate. Besides my sister took all the nice pictures and she and my Mom did.

Anyway there is a bunch of stuff that is probably just junk. Should I just make a big pile and give it to the good will?

I also have a full bedroom suit. Queen headboard, foot, 2 beside commodes, double mirrored double dresser, and a triple dresser. It's all solid walnut but it is from the 60's and all the drawer guides are plastic, old, and many have broken. I don't know what my style would be but that's not it and it is all empty anyway, sister threw everything away Mom had stored in them. Don't really know what to do with the set as it is a lot much for a guest bedroom.

Man, I have got a LOT of crap. Have the old portable phonograph and records I played growing up as a kid. Plus the stuff my parents liked like the Perry Como Christmas album. Even have a 45 LP that is Woody Guthrie singing Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail with Home on the Range on the flip side.

Got another stupid question...

So, being a single guy, even though I cook there ain't much in my fridge and especially the freezer. It does the defrost thing and have put a thermometer in both the fridge and freezer. By randomly checking them fridge seems to cycle from about 34°F to 40°F the freezer -10°F to just below freezing.

The question is...

If I fill the empty space with containers of water, or ice in the case of the freezer, making the air space in them smaller will it run less and end up using less electricity? The air space is going to warm some when I open it for access, but does the air space cool down quickly enough having less air space doesn't really matter much at the end of the month?

Porsche-poor 07-22-2016 07:53 AM

yep she has nothing but paths now

RKDinOKC 07-22-2016 08:09 AM

When we lived in our other house we only had a single car garage. It only had a path. Got rid of most all that stuff when we moved to our current house. Got rid of enough stuff I can actually fit two cars in my two car garage. That's why I started driving Porsches. Space to park them in a garage so they wouldn't be exposed to the weather.

RKDinOKC 07-22-2016 08:13 AM

Was also wondering about closing off the 2 bedrooms and bathroom on one end of my house that I don't use. I know it will screw up the system if I just close the vents and doors by causing extra pressure from less air being able to go thru the system. But what if I put a bypass on the system from the return to the distribution box that is spring loaded so it maintains the correct pressure to keep the flow going thru the HVAC at the correct pressure?

This looks like it is going to be a really HOT summer!

Already saving using my 1500watt toaster over vs the 3600watt oven.

Yes, a full fridge/freezer will be much more efficient.

RKDinOKC 07-22-2016 08:35 AM

oh boy, need to get me some cheap containers and fill that sucker up!

Can just store my extra containers in the fridge full of water!
If I need to put something in the fridge I can just pick a container(s), dump the water out and sto.
When done with them wash em up, fill em with water and sto in the fridge.

Freezer would be a bit different, but don't use it much anyways. Not into frozen foods/dinners. Just a tub of ice cream now and then.
