I drove the SC in 100 degree weather for 4 hours on the way back from a vacation. Although it wasn't horrible I would have rather had a/c. The nice thing about a 911 is that you don't get engine heat in the front like a normal car. I was by myself so I had the window and fresh air vents wide open.



Another opportunity came my way yesterday. I got a call from a wife's relative that a band he knows needs a drummer for some studio work. He suggested me and I am waiting on a call. I have no idea what type of music it is but unless it's gangsta rap I'm going to give it a shot.

Wow got a surprise bonus yesterday. Company paid me $5000 for the vacation time I didn't use last year. Something about being one of the few employees grandfathered in on not loosing vacation hours but them not wanting to keep anything over 2 years accrued vacation on the books.

Was going to take 2 vac days for my eye surgery. They had me change it to sic days. Then I cancelled the sic days because the surgery was postponed because I was sick. Guess that's either and advantage or disadvantage of working at home. Don't burn any sick days just because I have a bad head cold.

The 911 has the windshield just inches from the drivers face. I can keep my hand on the steering wheel and straighten my finger and touch the windshield. The dash area gets HOT and the fresh air ventilation is wimpy to be polite. Even if the AC is non working the AC blower at least blows some air around. My old GPS sat on the dash attached to the windshield. It would get so hot it hurt to touch it. On my trip to Hershey, PA I was driving all day into the afternoon sun. on the way home. The AC was stock back then and it kept me from melting but it was just not enough.

With the two additional condensers from Griffith's and a new evaporator on the way home from Savannah it was even hotter outside and we stayed comfortable. I love to crank the AC up on the way home from the autocross after a day of standing on hot asphalt.

Not looking to be a rock star but if I can make some money with my drums I'll be good with that.

I was talking to my insurance guy about taking my kit out to play and what coverage I would have. Apparently, I will need to get a rider. That's a bit far off but good to know. There's a loot of $$$$ sitting in the garage right now. To replace everything with new it would easily be $5000 if not more.

Even ran the AC on the BoxsterS with the top down.

The 4 zone AC sure cools the Cayenne Turbo down noticeably quicker than the 2 zone in the S.

Not sure about the rear air on the 928, the front ac gets warmer when you turn on the rear too.
It still starts fogging out the center front vent and will make snow if it is humid enough outside.

The guy from Austin that was showing interest in my Cayenne is now trying to decide between paying cash for my well sorted S, or doing like I did and seeing how good of a Turbo he can get. After all the work the turbo has needed, I would option for the S. The only thing the S doesn't have is the cornering lights.

I am curious, how tough would it have been to adapt cornering lights to the S?

Evidently the Macan we have on order has some sort of cornering lights. I look around over on the Macan forum. Their Tech section has some decent info but it is kinda dead over there. Sometimes it is just one or two other people in the site at the same time. They get into how they adjust some setting and I have no idea since I don't have a vehicle yet.

Hey maybe the state can keep some of the water and fill up the lakes and reservoirs.

How are the lakes and reservoirs doing now? I remember the photos of almost empty lakes. Are they filling up?

The reservoirs are not full yet, but they're getting closer to where they need to be. The aquifers are probably still a long way from being replenished, since a lot of rainfall is working its way back to the ocean. Here's looking out my window right now.

Cool I got more added to my Job. We had a night IT person leave. I get to be the Computer Nightwatchman. Spend about an hour logging into various servers and make sure the jobs are all running without errors. Some job or another always needs attention, usually just closing a warning message. Beats hiring a whole nuther employee for an hour of work every night.

They gave me a Dell Lattitude Laptop all congirued with the required apps and access. I am in the process of moving all the apps to the Virtual PC on my Mac and setting up scripts on the Mac to have the Virtual PC access the servers, do the checks, close out any errors, and make a report of what it did so I don't actually have to do anything. Most of the jobs I am checking on are scripts. To bad they couldn't make the scripts at least email an attendant when a message pops up. When I did scripted jobs that ran on a mac server it watched for the different error messages and did whatever it needed resolve the problem and resumed the script.

Don't know why they try to get rid of the Mac scripts. Used to have one in the Drafting department to do all the necessary settings everywhere on the different systems to create a new part. You just entered the part number and several settings in my script and let er rip. If you created a new part manually you had to type in the part number 10 different times. They made the guys that enter new parts go back to manually entering everything when they made a change instead of letting the drafting guys update the script. Found out the other day, one of the guys has been updating the script and is still using it. He asked me how to put in a error routine to stop it if they change anything. He told me not to tell anyone because IT don't like it.

Don't even want to talk about the script we were using to manage all the literature that it took them over 8 years to replace and the drafting guys tell me it still doesn't do as much and requires them to do more to get what it does do done.

Looks to me like they are requiring a LOT of the IT jobs the company is running on to have someone monitor for warning messages that have to be dismissed. Not a day goes by that a quote or order with a warning message holds up everything else causing people to send IT Help tickets because the system is not responding. I just need to get that lifelock monitor only attitude.

Our usually brown hills are now green like your picture, Jeff. We probably have another 8 hours of rain before we get a day off. Sunday, we'll be soggy again. My new landscaping is loving it.

Got to use my electrical licence again, $700+ in parts for the evap ac but glad I didn't have to pay for labour.

I bet that labor was paid for with several beers.

We have the Porsche club breakfast today. The restaurant is a 30 minute drive just off of Route 66. It will be good to get the 911 out and get it warmed up.
