Well, a current Ford GT would be OK if they paid for it and the insurance and the maintenance.

Brother's idea of a cool Ford was the 57 t-bird his son's got him. All restored some high class concours quality restoration for $130K. He sold it a couple years ago for $60K. He didn't like it once he got one because it drove like...well...a 57 T-bird. Now he drives and Escapé. Thinks I ought to sell my 928 when I get it back instead of enjoying it. Actually getting his dream car soured him on being an automotive enthusiast. Thinks all older cars are crap like that.
Company cars were crown vics or F series Pickups until Ford started coming out with the nicer appointed SUV's. Something about a USA oil production products company had to drive USA cars and supposedly in the oil patch Ford is King. Which was BS, the founder liked the Honda Prelude so that's what he drove. Still kick myself. When 18, 1978 the shop I took my muscle car to offered to trade me for an original GT40 that had been all restored except for the upholstery. The GT40 was all blacked out. Pretty radical for 1978. You just didn't see black rims and light lenses back then. I was an idiot, I thought it was one of those VW kit cars, besides was stoplight racing my 71 Plymouth and it was really quick. That's why they wanted to trade, their shop was into drag racing mopar. Don't know what it was about the setup on that car. Out of the hole the rear would sink down, then raise up and as it started raising up the car would just take off like a sling shot. Didn't even spin the tires. Did a neutral slam to try to spin the tires once and it busted the motor mounts instead of spinning the tires. They were just regular street tires too. My Dad wouldn't let me get wide tires or anything "racey" looking for it. Kinda felt bad around my hot rod friends not being able show off and smoke the tires, well, until I beat them at the stoplights. |
Brent, hope my comments about our .net it director weren't taken personally. This guy wants everybody to discuss everything to the nth detail several times over and then schedule two or three meetings instead of making a decision. We paid for exchange online/Office365 licenses for 500 people for a full year before we put one single user online or used the Office App downloads. He actually kept buying boxed copies of Office.

Heading off to the last Motors in the Morning at the Porsche dealers lot. Free coffee and donuts. I won a free shirt at the last one for owning my Porsche longer than anyone else there. All they had was medium and small shirts. Really? I asked the lady if she has looked around. Most ever guy was 6 foot tall and just a few skinny young dudes. Lots of well fed “mature distinguished gentlemen” like me.
|
Back from the show. This time they handed out shirts for some categories they made up. First was highest mileage car. I won by over 50,000 miles. Then they had a most tracked car prize. I had the most but they gave it to a guy that bought a new GT3 from them with 4 tracks. I did not care. They still have two shirts they own me from previous events. Today the actually had a shirt in the right size. A nice Polo shirt with the Porsche text on the front left.

Good deal, Glen!
Saw this little fellow in the yard. I've never seen them around here before. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1508611900.jpg |
Cool bug Jim. Give his (or her) lots of room to eat the bad bugs.
The good news is we have a project to fly in Dallas tomorrow. The bad news is it is inside the DFW TRACON control area. Ack! We are 6 miles out, right in the landing flightline. ACK. Nothing like a 747-700 heavy coming in flaps down right above our pilot. I had to send a FAX to them to show what we want to do. They keep changing the altitude we can fly at. We have maybe 50-50 odds of them telling us to just go away and don't come back. They are as friendly and accommodating as a rattlesnake that has peen poked with a stick for a few hours. State of the art fax technology to communicate with the federal government. |
It''s DRAGNET...Just the fax ma'am.
|
I remember back in the 1980s sending a fax from my home computer and thinking it was really cool.
Now in the 21st century it is stupid. One step above putting a note in a bottle and throwing it in the ocean. |
Oh my goodness. Second page?
|
Dang airlines. They think just because they have a bunch of large airplanes full of people with a schedule to keep that should have more priority that us in a Cessna 152 flying back and forth over the glide slope to the airport. We only got 1/2 the project flown before Air Traffic Control told us to GTFO and come back some day when the wind is blowing a different direction. They only problem is if we did it get it flown today, we will have to wait until next year. Oh well, that was a wasted day and money. Nothing like spending a bunch on fuel and aircraft rental and get nothing to show for it.

That sucks, Glen.
It's warm here (low 80s) for late October. Still, it was nice weather for doing some yard work. |
Picked up a 2 in thick Rib Eye today.
Rubbed it with some fresh ground pepper, sea salt, a little garlic powder, and a sprinkling of chili powder. After letting it warm to room temp fired up the Smoker/Roaster/Grill with hickory, apple, and one charcoal briquette. As soon as I could smell the chips smoking turned the temp down and put the steak on the grill. Let it sizzle 5 minutes, twice per side, 20 minutes total. Got nice criss cross grill marks. Smeared butter on top and let it set covered while I smashed some taters with garlic and LOTs of butter and made a small dinner salad. The steak was a perfect pink medium. It were absolutely freakin DELICIOUS tender and juicy! LOVE this Charbroil Smoker Roaster Grill! Was going to take a picture, but since I am not one of those people that takes pictures of everything I eat and posts it on Facebook... I just ate it. |
Morning all.
Another beautiful day. Nice crisp 55 degrees outside and clear skies. |
Oh man, oversleeped and missed draggin my trash bin and recycle tub out to the curb.
Good thing I am single and just don't generate very much of either one. Neither one is even half full. Also wonder about the City calling the trash bins "Big Blue." Ever since I have had one they have been a dark green. Even on the City's web site they are green? https://www.okc.gov/Home/ShowImage?i...54629179900000 I am color blind? |
I always put ours out Sunday afternoon or evening. They come through the neighborhood about 6:30 AM. Our are black.
|
Used to not have any problem dragging them to the curb on my way to work monday mornings. Pull out of the garage and if I see the neighbors trash bins out, I stop and drag mine out. Since working from home have just not developed the Sunday trash out habit.
|
Just make it a scheduled thing on your iPhone. It is just part of our routine now.
|
Dang it Why didn't I think of that?
