With sprinkles!

Porsche-poor 02-21-2018 01:59 PM

oh no here we got again with sprinkle covered part again!!!!!

RKDinOKC 02-21-2018 02:42 PM

Sprinkles not stripper glitter!

Sprinkles go on ice cream, cup cakes, and donuts. Stripper Glitter gets on and in just about everything else.

Good morning all. Even though it is 29 degrees and the streets are icy, my mean boss made me come into work. The walk down the hall was not too arduous. The walk into the kitchen to make the coffee went fine. No slipping and sliding at all.

It is for sure a day that it is nice to not have to drive into work. Of course many places are closed for business so employees get the day off and I have to work dang it. ;)

We are still looking to find a good Cessna 172 pilot. Gotta be a commercial pilot, instrument rated is part of that. They will likely get 30 to 40 hours of PIC time per week, even more in the summer months.

you bum. Its 28 here with 2-3" of snow and my boss had me drive to work. On the way in the roads got worse the further North I went. I live at a higher elevation and the roads were much better up there.

See if you boss will hire me so I can work from home?

GH85Carrera 02-22-2018 06:38 AM

When we open our west coast office I will put in a good word for you!

We are joked about what it would take to do more work remotely. I just check the folder of the job I recently finished. It was not a big project. It is 89GB of data. Not impossible to FTP but a fast connection is a must.

The computer I will build when the parts arrive is about $1,500 when I get it put together. The software we plan to run on it is many times more money than the hardware cost. Heck the 3D mouse we have to do the Photogrammetry is 6 grand all by itself. It looks like something from a Batman movie. We were lucky enough to buy it used for a lot less.

We have a high dollar video card and 3D monitor and glasses already to do the 3D. All of that is to do a show and tell for a client and prove how the data we can provide will allow them to analyze the data and predict the land issues in a better way than they are doing it now.

We have the software already, we have most of the hardware sitting on a shelf I just need to put it together and get it working.

Porsche-poor 02-22-2018 06:50 AM

Don't let the boss know its just sitting on the shelf it won't go over well.

GH85Carrera 02-22-2018 07:06 AM

That one expensive video card was in on main powerhouse workstation with the two other video cards that worked together. The one card would get a driver update and then all video went away. We would have to shut it down, take all the cards out, and reboot with just the motherboard video, delete all the Nivida drivers, and then re-install them and the drivers. We finally pulled the 3D card out and set it aside because we did not use the visual 3D stuff much.

Now we can get the card in it's own computer and let it play by itself.

Good Morning.

Our Company has an iPhone app for alerts. It says the company is closed till 5pm. And if on night shift to check before coming in. It's interesting. In the past, instead of cliosing, the company would come pick you up and bring you to work if the weather was bad and you wanted to work. They let people stay home without penalty, besides no pay for that day, but if you wanted to work the doors were still open. Now your key cards will not open the doors. It is a different company today.

Glen, is that another pilot besides Larry?

GH85Carrera 02-22-2018 08:18 AM

Yes, Larry will be lying his butt off already. We really need someone in Pennsylvania for long term project. They can easily make $800 per week and do nothing more than fly the flight lines. We may even have to rent an apartment for them and pay a weekly stipend for expenses.

Decided to make a fresh bootable full backup of one of my servers. Usually it just updates changes once a day and takes about an hour. The backup runs in the background while the server is serving and it is still making it's hourly Time machine backups where it keeps copies of older file versions. The software doing the full backup uses about 20% of the resources but will use less if the kernal gets busy so the backup does not really effect performance. The drive has 200GB. It has taken 72 hours and has 68 to go. Guess it takes quite a while to not take a performance hit while doing the backup.

Porsche-poor 02-22-2018 08:38 AM

to bad I don't know any pilots on the east coast.

RKDinOKC 02-22-2018 08:44 AM

Know a pilot out of Atlanta that flies for the FFA or FAA, whichever. He flies a T-38 full of instrumentation in to, out of, and around airports making sure all the Air Traffic Control beacons etc. are in proper working order. Says he hates flying. Not sure if he is still flying, he is getting old.

Porsche-poor 02-22-2018 08:59 AM

I love to fly but no one will pay me to do it.

Just get a commercial license in a Cessna 172. You will be spending a week at a time or more away from home however.

Porsche-poor 02-22-2018 09:25 AM

well that's not going to happen either.

flipper35 02-22-2018 09:25 AM

I love to fly but hate to travel. Don't have a commercial certificate anyway.

Porsche-poor 02-22-2018 12:49 PM

Looks like Paris is back on for this summer. Be a nice little trip with a really long flight.

flipper35 02-22-2018 12:59 PM

Should be a nice trip and you will be away from work a bit.
