Sounds like deer hunting weather,Brent.

Oh I have lots of backups. The critical files are backed up off site. The simple fact that so much of the customer data is giant files. I just checks. One recent small project is 49.9 GB of data in total. Some of the files are the results of 24 hours of data processing to get that final result set of files to send to the client.
It was a roadway project. It shows a 1000 feet from center-line in each direction, and it is just 4.5 miles long. And that is essentially 50 GB to store. I don't want my backup software to decide to start backing up the backup copies on it's own. I have a file on Quicken that I have been using since 1989. That same file is what I use every time I open Quicken. Yea, I could delete some of the data from the former millennium, but why bother. Th real point, is that one file (and lots of others) have not been lost into cyber space. I know lots of people can't keep a computer file for more than a few years without a major catastrophic loss of files. I will readily admit, I have not had a house fire or disaster that wipes out lots of people. |
Bob tells me I need to protect my computers from those bombs that wipe out electronics. I asked him if he means EMPs. He said he didn't know what an EMP was. Told him if we had an EMP that wiped out my computers, loosing what was on my computers would be the least of my problems.

I tell mom the same thing about an EMP attack.

The opening of deer season was last weekend in Arkansas. The deer were everywhere. I was in the downtown area and a doe came stomping up over the asphalt. She came to a stop and looked around like she had never seen an guy in a 911.
We saw a few on the road, and dozens of pickups out in the woods. And even one hunter walking along a road. Orange vest, and rifle on his shoulder. As many deer as I saw, they need a good culling for sure. |
Duck season. Rabbit season. Rabbit season. Duck season. Bam... You're despicable.
Dont have good memories of deer hunting as a teen so just don't give a flip for it. |

More to the saga of Bob.
He has fractured a lumbar. Police did not come to the accident. Brother called towing services all day yesterday and nobody picked his car up. As far as we know the car is where he wrecked it, where-ever that is. EMSA is the only one that knows where they picked him up. They wil not tell us just where they picked him up without e a signed HiPA form and a copy of his Driver's License. And the EMSA person is the wife of a an employee at the company my brother is Chairman of. They are expecting us to drive to Tulsa, get the signature and bring the form back to OKC. Seems like they could use a copy of the HIPA that I am sure the hospital made him sign. Brother is going to call the hospital to see if someone there can help with this. Hope I don't have to drive to Tulsa just to get his signature on some form so we can find out where the accident was and Maybe find his car there. Also my brother Tom got another form to fill out that has all kinds of info so they can determine if Medicaid will pay for this stuff and where they can take him for rehab. The are requiring 5 years of bank records with copies of all his checks! |
The bank will have all of those records, assuming he has had a bank account. All he needs is the account, and the bank will have it.
|
Oh and guess what everyone wants...Faxes!
We don't have no stinking faxes. We are just people, not some kind of business. Me nor either of my brothers even have land line phones. Think there might be a need for a app that does that on phones. The fax apps are more expensive than getting a pots line and using the 3in1 printer to fax with. |
Morning all. Sounds like all the fun I had with my dad in the hospital and then hospice care. What you need is a form like I got him to sign that allowed me to tell the doc's and anyone else to stuff it just give me the info. A healthcare directive I think is what it was called.
|
We don't need to tel them what they can or can't do, just need access to the records. That is covered in the basic HiPPAA form. He should have signed that when admitted to the hospital. That's what they did when I was admitted.
|
The medical directive by-passes all that. It allows you access without Hip form.
|
If he can't remember where the car is he might not have been in any condition to sign forms so it didn't get done.
|
We don't know, he is not the smartest tool in the box when fully cognizant.
Other brother is supposed to be contacting the hospital for information. BUT...he keeps calling Bob instead of the hospital staff. Beginning to wonder about his IQ. When I was hospitalized with my foot they went over all that paperwork junk about every 2 days. Got to where it really pissed me off. One time the doctor was re-dressing my foot and ran the administrator off because she came in and started asking the questions all over again. He was supposed to be doing a sterile procedure and here was this stupid chick coming in asking a bunch of stupid questions. |
Have fun with all that. I'm just busy cutting checks to wrap up all the last bills and pay out to the siblings.

I was fortunate I worked at a small business back when I went through that. I used the copier, and the fax machine and internet a lot back then for my dad's estate. Richard, I have heard about PDF to FAX services. They all charge a fee for each fax sent and received. I have no experience with them. Faxes were invented in 1843! The is 175 years ago. They were first used widely during WW2 by the military. It was the 1980s when they invaded most businesses. Email should have put them out of our misery long ago. It is just the dumb laws that have not kept up. We can blame the politicians for focusing on making themselves rich and not focusing on laws that need to be changed, eliminated and or written. |
Yeah I have been using all the electronic equipment here as well to get this done.
|
My 3 in 1 color laser printer would do all that just fine. Only I don't have a landline to plug it into for faxification.
As soon as I eat some lunch looks like I am heading to Tulsa, by myself, to get all the info I can and see if I can find Bob's van. Don't know what I am supposed to do if I do find it. Can't do anything myself except arrange to have to towed someplace. |
