Well crap. Put my Cayenne key on the corner of my desk. It is gone. Pepper probably got it and took to the back yard and it's lost in the leaves. She did that with my credit card about a year ago.

When I got the Turbo it only came with the valet key. The guy I bought it from sent me 2 keyfob remote with blank keys. Couldn't find anyone to cut the blanks even though I had the valet key to copy the blade, let alone program the Cayenne for the keys. All the dealer would to is sell me a new key and program it. They are around $300 plus programming. Ended up buying a new key and having the Cayenne programmed for it.

There is a Porsche dealership in Colorado that will cut and program these cheaper internet purchased keys so it only ends up costing $200 total.

As a kid living at home, we never locked the door of the house, no no house key needed. Only when I got a car and started working did I have to carry keys. In all the years since, I have not once lost a key. The keys for the El Camino have been in constant use for 27 years. They are made of brass and have worn a LOT. They are pretty thin. The door lock is tricky, and if my wife has to drive it, I just give her my spare keys which are the virtually unused original set. The keys I carry have no trace of logo, or chrome plating. It is all worn off. My 911 key is the typical black plastic key but the Porsche script is worn down on the plastic part.

When we went to Alaska for 2 weeks, I kept my keys in my pocket, even though I was 3,000 miles of so from anything that the key would work with. The keys are either in my front pocket, or in the lock of whatever they fit. At night I get ready to go to bed, I put them in the spot where my wallet, ring and pocket knife go. They all go back into my pockets when I get dressed.

That really is one reason I don't want to upgrade to a newer car. All cars have GIGANTIC, super expensive keys now.

Morning all. Really short week for me. Taking Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off. I should take today off as well cause its only 61 in my office. The heat is on the fritz.

GH85Carrera 11-19-2018 06:29 AM

Hey, the heater took off, you should too!

Porsche-poor 11-19-2018 06:42 AM

trust me I am thinking that is a good idea

I caught the last part of silence of the lambs over the weekend again, and of course I watched all the credits.
It's kind of an OCD thing. Lots of interesting info, stars before they were stars, information on locations, etc.
I won't leave a theatre or change the channel until the credits are done. Drives the wife crazy.
I absolutely hate it when they play the credits really fast to save time or make the screen small so I can't read the credits. I yell at the TV when it does that.

Anywho, in the credits of silence of the lambs it listed the EMT driver as ..... get this ....... Buzz Kilman.
Love it. Some day that will be my log-in ID somewhere.

Believe it or not there's also a credit for "moth wrangler".
But that isn't the end of it.
There is also a credit for "assistant moth wrangler".

Not only does a guy wrangle moths, he has an assistant to help him do it.

I'd seen the moth wrangler thing before and was reminded, but the Buzz Kilman slipped by me before and I didn't catch it until this time.

Things that make ya go huh.

Porsche-poor 11-19-2018 08:17 AM

"moth wrangler" sounds better than bug guy.

flipper35 11-19-2018 08:45 AM

"And this is my grandson George, he was the assistant moth wrangler on the movie..."

Morning all. It was a relatively decent weekend for being outside and all here. Not so much for y'uns in OK.

Porsche-poor 11-19-2018 08:48 AM

Was not a bad weather weekend here either. Tad cold and never made it much above 50 but it was dry. Got the out door lights up for Christmas (won't turn them on till Friday) but at least I didn't have to do it in the rain.

GH85Carrera 11-19-2018 08:54 AM

Saturday was NICE, until evening. Then is got cold on Sunday. Just a slight trace of mist in the air Sunday. The forecast is sunshine and 50s and 60 all week.

I always wonder about the people that play a corpse in the early part of a movie or TV show. Imagine how proud their parents are. The highlights are playing a corpse and "acting" is holding your breath and playing dead. Do they put that on their resume?

My dad was an extra on a John Wayne movie. He however ever didn't put it on his res.

GH85Carrera 11-19-2018 09:31 AM

My dad was in the move Merrill's Marauders. Just a one of thousands in a the wide scenes. At the very start of the movie, the camera moves along a line of faces of the men. Several of dad's buddies were part of that. Dad was the next face in line but they cut away before dad was on.

Porsche-poor 11-19-2018 09:34 AM

that's no fun. Dad played a drunk that that gets shouldered out of the way by one of the actors as he enters a bar. Can't see his face and its cut when shown on TV.

Back many years ago (30 years or so) I was a "grip" on a couple of TV commercial shoots. We were using the same Panavision camera systems that Hollywood used. It took us 7 days of 18 to 20 hours days to shoot 4 - 30 second commercials. It was hard work.

One evening were went into a local bank after closing. We spent a few hours setting up the lights, and the tracks for the camera dolly. The "cute little girl" actress picked up the clapper and said something like "Take 15, action" and then put it down. We were all hoping it would not go that far. It took that little Prima donna over 20 takes to walk up to the teller and say some line about her deposit and get her stuffed version of the bank's mascot Earnie the Eagle.

We were all set up to shoot a sunrise clip at a local very picturesque farm. It was cold, and we were all freezing, except the camera. It had electrical blankets wrapped on it to keep it warm and operational. The next day were were at a cafeteria shooting their food. Food photography is hard. The food stylist was there making at least a dozen apple pies to get one that looked perfect. Mostly under-cooked, but looked perfect for the commercial. She would take the flawed ones and put them back in the oven to finish. The crew could eat all they wanted. I think I ate an entire apple pie because I was starving after 12 hours of non stop working. She would put out food and if it was on a certain table, it was safe to eat. The stuff that was not cooked properly, or had glycerin all over it to make it look yummy she just threw in a trash can.

She made a picture perfect turkey. It was mostly raw. The white meat flap with the knife cutting into it was "cooked" with a heat gun to make it look perfect. She would cook Jello and only use 1/2 or less of the water. It looked great, but really jiggled for the camera.

It makes as much sense as a zombie apocalypse, if not more.

I have never understood the fascination of the apocalypse genre. 99% of the science fiction movies are "after the apocalypse" movies. That is one reason I have always likes Star Trek. They solved the problems of future society with technology, and have a bright future. Except for the Borg, or Klingons, or Romulans, but they are just an foe to conquer.
