Sammy, thought you were talking Bob Seagers Fire Lake. There's a Old Man Joe surrounded by women in it as well. Didn't know the place you are talking about was called Firelake. All I know is it is close to Hooterville and has one o them elevated swimmin holes.

I remembers all about petticoat junction, but only remember bits and pieces of Seager.
Plus I'm old.

I was talking about Seger's Fire Lake.. Cant get the song out of my head especially after a few beers. Wondering if any other "vintage" folks recognized the lyrics..

Anyone know who the "back up" singers were?

Hint: it was recorded in Muscle Shoals Sound Studio (around 71) - but released in 80

yep. Eagles.
Not all of em, just Glenny and Donny and Timmy.

Glenn sang on at least a couple of Seger's songs.

Yesterday afternoon a perfectly good airplane fell out of the sky just a few from the house.
Killed five people, one neighbor said the plane blew up in mid air and came down in pieces.

Witnesses saw the plane, still in one piece, coming through the clouds, said Maja Smith, an NTSB investigator. Then the plane’s tail came off, followed by its wings. It plummeted rapidly.

Silver Bullet Band.

Prefer getting ZZTop songs stuck. otherwise it's...Wheels on the bus go round and round...

We do have a local Fire Lake Casino too.

The 928 owners have a camp out GTG every year in Aug in HELL.

High Life 02-04-2019 07:05 PM

TRUE

Seger eventually stated that it is about a lake in Michigan called Silver Lake. He told Toledo Free Press in March 2011: "It was written about Silver Lake in Dexter, about being in the Pinckney-Hell-Dexter area

Everytime I hear a Bob Seger song it becomes my favorite..

ZZ TOP Afterburner is one of my favorite albums.

We had a mouse up in the attic, that managed to fall down into the wall. The dogs alerted us that something was scratching inside the wall. They wanted to dig through the wall to end the entrapment and turn it into a snack. We had to put up a barricade around that part of the wall. Our female dog just held guard duty to make sure it did not escape and get us, and we felt very safe. Finally the scratching stopped, and the smell started. Fortunately for us it was in the "formal dining room" that gets used once per decade so the odor was not bothering us on a regular basis. It faded after a week or so and it all gone long ago.

I am real glad it was not inside a car, that would suck.

When we first moved in, my wife admitted we did not need a formal dining room. I volunteered to knock down the wall between it and the garage and add the floor space to the garage. She declined that offer. She managed to find a lot of antiques to fill up the room.

Morning all. its a balmy 17 degrees out today. Made it into work. I guess that's a plus.

flipper35 02-05-2019 07:07 AM

I guess if you left for work it is a plus that you made it. All our rain that did not dry off of th e roads last night is frozen today.

Segar at one point asked Glen to sing with him full time.

RKDinOKC 02-05-2019 07:08 AM

Good morning! It's NOT Monday!

Had squirrels in the attic. Could hear the scampering and scratching at night, And they went up and down the insides of walls as well. Called a pest control guy out. Said DO NOT do the poison thing because of the resulting odiferous eminations. So hired the guy.

First he went around and closed up and sealed all the places they could possibly gain enterance making the house squirrel proof. Then he installed a lengthed of PVC pipe to one of the eave vents making what looked like a fun slide for the squirrels. Said it was easy out with no re-entry. Guaranteed the house would be squirrel free within a week and he would be back in a month to retrieve the slide and seal it up.

For the next coupld of weeks had the weirdest thing. Squirrels would scamper around on the window screens. Never seen that before. They were looking for a place to get back in. Then sure enough after a couple of weeks...No more squirrels or noises in the attic and walls.

Friends in Austin had raccoons in their attic. Did hire an exterminator until after I told them about my squirrel eviction. They and just not thunk of calling a pest control service.

Roads were not to bad. A few spots that will sucker in a few people who think the road is ok to go the speed limit on till they come upon that one little section where the ice didn't melt.

flipper35 02-05-2019 07:15 AM

They are fine, they have all wheel drive you know!

Congrats again, Jeff! By the time you actually retire, you'll be an expert!
