With my tiny yard, I use a battery-powered B&D string trimmer. I can edge a few times before recharging the battery.

We had a little more rain last night/this morning. Free irrigation. :)

The guy that bought the very first 944 in Oklahoma hired a professional landscaper. His front yard was all terraced with many levels of flower beds and bushes. His back yard was a large pool, surrounded by terraced flower beds, and bushes. He had one patch of grass. The exact size of his lawn mower. He would start the mower, let it get up to full speed, and shut it down. His entire yard was mowed.

He would go to work at a oil company, and all the guys talked about mowing the yard or hiring someone to mow it for them. He would always brag, he mows his own yard. No weeds, just a perfect green carpet of grass growing. Done in 15 seconds.

Jim Richards 04-03-2019 01:06 PM

Wow, 15 seconds! My lawn takes less than 15 minutes to edge & mow.

GH85Carrera 04-03-2019 01:11 PM

All he had to do was start the mower, and shut it down. He did not even have to move it. I guess if you count the time to get the mower from his storage building to the grassy spot and put it away it might be a full minute.

Hahaha!

We took a somewhat crappy picture of one of the gray whales we saw the other day. As bad as image looks, I guess I could claim it was the Loch Ness monster or even Bigfoot. :)

Yea, sure, a whale. Right, of course. That's the ticket, a whale.

It was this |<------------------------------------------------------------------------->| big.

Actually, we did see them blow their spouts, arch their backs, and submerge. We were within 2 boat lengths of them at the closest.

One of the yards I took care of the guys front yard was small. The back yard was all terraced with patio a pool and shrubberies, no grass. Just mowed his yard once a week. Told him I would do it for 5 bucks because it only took me 5 minutes. He always left a check under a fake rock in a planter for 10 bucks.

By the end of the summer I was doing 4 other front yards on that block. They would stop and say that guy must be rich as nice as you keep his yard looking. Told them I mowed just his front yard once a week for 5 bucks. Ended up mowing theirs too.

My yard sucks. It's got limbs and leaves everywhere. Catch all the leaves from the whole block, and have that huge cottonwood in the back yard that sheds leaves and limbs.

The other server admin at work is pulling some real stupidity.

We have a discussion email list running on a server. You have to subscrobe to the list to post to or get emails from it. Our distributors use it mainly as to let people know when they need some inventory to serve customers. Kind of share inventory around. There are 150 members, and 120 of them are NOT members of our domain.

The admin guy did some changes to our hosted anti-spam which stopped anyone from being able to deliver to the list server. Instead of fixing the settings on the anti-spam server. He wants to change the discussion list to a Microsoft Teams site That means we would have to give 120 users guest team licenses to access the site. ie $200/mo Our curent list servier is a free copy of CommunigatePro. AND I think the distributors will quit using it because you have to have a teams app open to keep up with the list instead of the postings coming to their email. Now there are only 4 or 5 posts a week. Not worth keeping another app open.

I think it is a stupid mistake made by someone that just thinks way too much of this teams crap.
The several times I have tried to discuss things in the teams site for our IT department people just make wisecracks or post silly memes instead of actually trying to discuss and issue. Its like it was facebook.
So even the people in IT are not using teams, they just emall each other.

RKDinOKC 04-03-2019 02:57 PM

Well, called and chatted with the IT Director. They shut down the server because he thinks it is a security hole. That is just dumb. Personally do not think a public list server is a security hole. Especially if that list server only accepts connections from members of the discussion list that must be added manually and the administration login is only allowed from a specific IP. The server isn't even on or have access to our private network. i was not a typical IT idiot when I set it up.

Think it is even dummer to close down the discussion list server BEFORE setting up the teams site you are replacing it with.

Kinda weird he told met I was doing a great job?
Think it is because we had a security audit last week and none of the things I setup or have been working on have been a risk despite what the other server admin said.
I had even suggested some things that were NOT done that the secrity audit guys recommended.

What do I know anyway. I have only been doing this stuff for 28 years.

One reason I mowed yesterday was the rain predicted for today. So far 1.15 inches of rain. More is supposed to fall.
