Sorry for you or anyone else that has to deal with the 5hit HR or People and Culture spew forth.

We drove up to Enid yesterday for Mother's Day. Yea, we were a week early, but the timing was better. My MIL is typical of many 80+ year old ladies, and really needs another present like she needs dust in the house. So Mrs. Carrera brings garden plants and has me dig holes in the MIL's flower bed. It makes the place look nicer and she does not get another knickknack.
The part of the country, wheat is king. There are miles and miles of GREEN wheat looking good after the recent rains. They have several wheat storage silos in Enid. Many of them have wheat stored outside in enormous piles, under fancy tarps. I have no idea how they keep the critters out. The silos themselves are full. They are waiting for the price of wheat to go up enough to make it all worthwhile. Today is the autocross. It looks like ideal weather for it. Should be fun. |
Does she have one of those robot floor dusters?
Brother with MS and SIL has robot vacuums for upstairs and downstairs both. They also have a once a week maid and a 2 times a week cook that leaves meals they only have to heat up. Brother doing the back recovery has a helper come in 2 hrs a day, and food for one meal a day. |
Her house is spotless. She has a house cleaner come regularly. I used dust as an example of something no one wants more of.

There’s a shadow lurking near your car, Glen.

Uh-oh, the missus’s parents are on their annual pilgrimage to us, and have broken down 250kms south. There’s a flat bed truck heading down the hwy to get the car and caravan and bring them the rest of the way up. Problem is the MIL can’t climb into the cabin of the truck. Woohoo, rescue road trip this morning .

Wow, perfect weather for the autocross. Light breeze, and in was mid 70s and just wonderful weather. It was so nice I "was allowed" to mow the yard. Golly that was fun!
One of the guys that has been a no show for a while has had two different 911 Turbos. He sold them and showed up in his new 2017 911 Turbo. Another guy that does show up regularly was there. We were giving him a hard time because over the last two years he has arrived and driven the same car only once. Every month it is a different vehicle. Today it was a 2011 Cayman S. He is 60/40 in Porsches. Sometimes it is a Miata, the next time it is a WRX. He is always really fast. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1557091468.jpg Interesting backdrop for this one. |
I thought you said it was perfect weather. The wind must have picked up just a little as you were taking that picture.

Well.....
We run at the Fire Department’s training center. That one area is where they learn to use the jaws of life. They have have a little city of nothing but facades of buildings for some training, and two burn buildings they set on fire and fill with smoke for teaching. It is a nice facility. They also have several 18 wheelers that are used for extracting cars from under the 18 wheelers. |
Glen, your car looks good as always.
Been awhile since I said this, so just a reminder, if you ever decide to sell it, I’ve got dibs. :p |
Okay got info on the PC...
Intel i7 2.9GHz and 8gb ram. 27in monitors no mic/camera/speakers. 3yo mac laptop was 2.8GHz intel i7 with 16gb ram and the 2 27 in montiors have camera/mic.speakers also mac has a 1tb ssd and the PC has a 250gb samsung. Don't find anything that says SSD Macs sure are a lot easier to get the configuration and component info on. |
Richard, my 5 or 6 year old computer I built to do email has more power than that POS.
You really need more RAM if you do much multitasking. Oh well, when they ask what the delay is for some result, tell them the computer is still working on it and is slow. Hey Sid, I will keep you in mind. I will keep putting miles on it till then. I plan to drive it until I can't do it anymore, so you will have a while to wait. I am almost ready to roll to 170,000 and it will likely have 175,000 by the end of July. At the autocross, as I was loading my car back up with my helmet and other stuff I bring, a couple of the younguns came over and aked questions. They were knew it was an old car and it is older than many of the guys out there. I was showing one of the PCA guys my upgraded AC system, and told him there are few if any components I have not touched, upgraded, or repaired to better than new. I finally got my rear seat back put back in. Golly it is fun to squeeze my 6 foot tall fat body into the floorboard behind the front seat, to put the rear seat back into position, and then get the pin into place, and tighten it up, then get the carpet back into position while folded up in the festal position. It is all done. Phew. |
On yeah the bit depth on the displays. Macs 30 bits, Dell 8 bit. Yikes. Take a bit step back in color management. 20 years?
