I wore adidas Stan Smith tennies forever, but the wife finally said no more.
She says nobody wears white tennies. I said I do.
My daughter said they look like I just got off the short bus.

So now I got black tennies. Hate em. Just doesn't seem right. GOML.

My shoes are special order thru a medical shoe place. They make a last for my foots and the shoes are made off that last. They fit perfect. Expensive, and only a couple of style choices, but no break-in. Cause I get sores that won't heal before shoes break in. Insurance pays for 1 pair per year.

Sammy, tell yer wife and kid they are flat out wrong. I wear white walking shoes. I have tried the black ones, and it felt like I looked like a I was a Jr. high gym teacher. Just wrong.

I also wear my phone on a belt clip, and I tuck my shirt in! And I care about the opinion of others about my fashion sense almost as much as Dipso's opinions on anything at all.

The Reebok Classic was developed for male nurses, that stand up all day, and walk around a lot. I can wear them all day, and NOT have even a hint of sore feet. The tread pattern is a very open set of flattened nubs or cleats, and super easy to clean the soles of the shoes.

I have some New Balance shoes that are great, but the sole is a series of tittle tiny cracks that are almost impossible to clean out any dirt or mud.

These are the perfect shoe for me, and nothing will change my mind until someone shows me a more comfortable shoe, with a sole that has traction, and is easy to clean or keep clean.

For work I wear Rockports. All day comfort in a dress shoe.

I have a pair of Rockports for my "Formal" attire. When I have to put on (gasp) long pants that are not jeans. Something like Dockers, and a Polo shirt. That is as dressed up as I get.

I have a pair of full on black dress shoes, that I bought for my wedding and we have been married 27 years. I have never had to have them repaired or anything, and I bet in 27 years they have maybe 48 hours of use. One pair of work boots that I have had for 45 years, one pair of tall snow boots, and one pair of "hiking shoes" that are water proof and used for winter days with a little ice or snow.

And 4 pair of garage or mow the lawn shoes. Those will get tossed when they get too muddy, but all of the garage shoes are old discarded daily shoes.

Sounds like a typical "guy's" shoe collection that was like mine until the nail got me special made shoes.

Instead of tennis shoes, I like mountain walkers. I think they are just tennis shoes that are a little more rugged.

Do have a pair of red wing 4 lace hole dress oxfords. And a good pair of red wing lace up leather contruction boots. They are both pretty old, got them went red wing ordered custom fit shoes.

My favorites most of the time are wool sockes that have leather soles.

I have my hunting boots, my brown and black dress shoes and my "good" tennies. There are a few pair of old tennies for getting dirty.

I have three pairs of "active" flip-flops and two pair that are retired but I haven't quite gotten around to throwing them out yet.

That may seem like a lot of flip flops but it's So Cal, and it's the law.

I have driven through Phoenix when I went to San Diego. Actually on the way back. On the way out I had a detour and went through the desert west of the interstate. Driving through Needles, CA was hotter when I went to Monterey and back. 118 degrees in Needles. Only 108 when I went through Phoenix.

And 125, and 135 degree indexes as well. That day I spent at Roebling Road was just brutal. I always wonder how in the hell did the citizens survive in that area for hundreds of years with no electricity. No fans, and no place to plug in the air conditioner. And the women were in many layers of clothing.

The tag law in Oklahoma will change on July 1st. No longer will the tag stay on a car, when the car is sold. The tag belongs to the person, and the new owner has to get a tag right away. The biggest change is now we have to keep the title registration page they give you with a new tag. Problem is, for the last 40 years I lived here it was a useless piece of paper. I just shredded it. And of course, it has my address on it. So I will use my copier to carry a redacted version. The insurance card I carry has the address of the insurance agency on it. I think it is nuts to carry a item in the glove box with my home address on it.

Having lived in El Centro I can say I will take humidity over an oven, though I would take EC over Florida and the high temps along with the humidity. Then again I burn easily and the summers in the low desert were brutal. I did not drive the Cobra in July and August when the sun was up.

When I left out of Monterey, CA before I got in the car I took a long deep breath of the nice cool sea air, then got in and headed east. My first stop for gas was in Wasco, CA after driving through the very NOT scenic Lost Hills, CA. The temp was dang hot, but on to Bakersfield and Needles was silly hot at 118. The AC was about at the limit, but I did not sweat. It is weird to think, going on into Kingman, AZ was going to be cooler! And the scenery was back to nice, and like the movie Cars.

Flagstaff is the perfect stopping place, but I pushed on to Gallup, NM for the night.

Flagstaff and Sedona are nice places. I am sure Phoenix is, for a big city.

When I went for my interview in EC in early April 1992 the highs were over 110* already but that wasn't too bad. I treated July and August like the two weeks of sub zero temps here. The winters were the best weather out there. Sunny and 70s.
