Dude, it was a cartoon from the 1960s. Look at the Bumstead comics. His boss is constantly kicking him in the butt. Not very realistic, but neither is a shirt with just one giant button.

It has been over 40 years, maybe 50 since I saw an episode of the Jetson's. I don't remember much about it.

I did just start watching Cheers from Episode one. I don't think I saw Cheers since the 90s.

Coswell Cogs invented the flying suit.

Had to go to campus for the employee meeting this morning. Usually attend remotely. Had to stand up front and be recognized for my anniversary. We do that on each employee's aniversary to introduce them, tell about them, their family, hobbies, what they do at their job, and a character quality they demonstrate with examples.

They got me down for 39 years despite the fact I started when I was 14 mowing, taking care of the lawns, and doing electronic assembly. That would be 45 years instead of 39.

GH85Carrera 06-20-2019 12:26 PM

That is a long time Richard.

My brother in law has only had one job. He is closing in on 50 years there. He is already the longest time employee there. Of course the company has been bought and sold several times, but he has done the same job for almost 50 years.

RKDinOKC 06-20-2019 01:24 PM

At least I haven't been doing the same job.

Bro Bob called and he has installed the only annoyware program out there for the mac. It's called MacKeeper. It is supposed to be the end all be all for keeping your mac from getting viruses, or spam, and keeps junk off the computer so it is always optimised and as fast as it can me. It starts out free, then starts bugging you about upgrades. It slows down you computer because all the stuff it monitors and is always interupting you. It's technically not a virus or spam, but it is spamming you to get you buy all the individual features.

My other brother installed it an it took almost a whole day to clean all the freakin files it installs out of the system.

Asked both of them if they had any viruses, were getting a lot of spam, or their computer was running slow, and they said no. Asked why they would install that software if they weren't having any of those problems? Especially if it is software they hear about from getting emails from them. AND it is NOT sold thru the Apple App Store. A sure sign that software is not on the up and up.

And this was after I've told them I don't run anything like that but if they think they need to run something like that they can get MalwareBytes for free from the Apple App Store.
Why don't they listen?

Bob even installed it, then uninstalled it and guess what? It keeps popping up telling him he needs protected. He said it shouldn't do that because he didn't install it. Told him that's why i told him to stay away from it.

Richard, ya can't fix stupid. Especially someone stupid and stubborn.

Wow, summer is here. Today is the first day of summer, and the heat has arrived. It is not that horrible hot mid 80s, but the humidity is nucking futz. With all the rain we have had every tree, bush and anything green is growing like mad, and pumping water into the air. The overflowing ponds and lakes are all pumping water into the air, and then the front came through to bring more humidity.

The humidity was 80% yesterday. It was like Savannah, GA or Houston. Right now my Vantage View weather monitor says the humidity is 87%!

Jim Richards 06-21-2019 06:34 AM

63 degrees, totally overcast, fog, everything outside is damp. Yay! Summer!

GH85Carrera 06-21-2019 09:45 AM

Oh boy!

I "get" to play Maytag repairman. Only it does not involve Mrs Carrera in a negligee wanting me to service (deleted)

The washing machine just stopped. It is a top loading washer. I diagnosed it as the lid switch. I looked around on-line and found the part number. I went to the local "mom and pop" owned store where we bought the washer. He confirmed my diagnosis as very likely, and sold me a replacement for less than the on-line places. Now I just need to take the top of the machine apart and replace a plate with switch plate assembly.

It looks like a lot of fun to replace.

OK, Chicago sucks and the Shedd Aquarium has joined Disneyland as a place I will never visit again unless there are airplanes and napalm involved.

On a side note, the tollways are easy as there are multiple lanes for the pass and you don't have to slow down but the roads still suck. I imagine all the toll money goes to bribes and kickbacks.

Jim, I can empathize with your oil pan sticking. Just did that a few weeks ago.

Anyone have any experience with Corbeau seats? The seats in the Cobra need new coverings, but it might be almost as cheap to get new seats. New seats will be much lighter and have the slot for the anti-sub belt, but they won't be electronically adjustable bolsters and lumbar.

Also, what is a good, inexpensive, EDC folding knife in the 3" range. I lost my little one. :(

Jim Richards 06-21-2019 10:42 AM

Brent, I love the airplanes/napalm idea for some of those places. The Chicago highways are total crap. I figured the toll money also went to build more toll booths.

Have you looked at an auto upholstery shop for your Corbeaus? Maybe one of those shops can also mod your seats for the anti-sub belt hole. If you generally like the seats, maybe this is the way to go. I dunno. I used to have Recaro Pole Positions in Leather in my old '73E-2.7RS-spec hotrod / faux racecar. My wife and I did a road trip in the '73E, from DC to WY, down to NM, and back to DC. We both felt that the Recaros were very comfortable. YMMV

GH85Carrera 06-21-2019 11:11 AM

Phew, don't tell my wife, but that switch replacement was an easy 20 minute job. I got it done while she was at lunch with her girlfriend. My business partner came over and we mounted the new tire on the tug axle. Now we just need to get it back on the tug.

Think of a go-cart tire, 6 inch rim and tall profile. No tread, just a racing slick. I put a couple of inches of water in a 5 gallon bucket, and added a lot of liquid hand soap. It took both of us wrassling it, but it popped on. Fire up the air compressor and at 100 and air it up, seat the bead. Done. TADA.

Now we will go out to the hangar, and get the tug back together. Heat index is on 115 right now. I may perspire a tiny amount if you compare the volume to the Mississippi.

Weird day at work for me.

The seats are actually form a Dodge Stealth and those are the ones I am going to take in to the place doing the dash and door cards to get a quote on covering them and adding hte slot. They are comfy, but old and heavy and I was looking at buying new Corbeaus because they are in my price range and come in the color I need. Recaros are usually pretty comfy and I actually looked at those when I first bought the car. At the time, the ones I wanted were $1500 per seat but they have come down a lot since then and probably because of better competition in the market. I rode in one set though that had very narrow bolsters by your shoulders. They were NOT comfortable.

Now that you mention it, napalm would probably improve some of the tollways.

Jim Richards 06-21-2019 11:47 AM

It's funny that your Cobra has seats out of a Dodge Stealth. My 280Z has seats out of an early Mazda Miata. Better bolsters than the 280Z seats, and they have the provision for headrest speakers. Speaker location in a 280Z has always been a crappy compromise. I think (or hope!) that this will be the best solution.

My old '73E had an H4 headlight pop out from all the potholes in the toll roads of Chicago. The wires were the only thing holding that headlight to the car.

flipper35 06-21-2019 11:56 AM

My dash has satellite speakers and then the woofers are between the seats ala Dodge Viper. My BiL suggested Miata seats as well as seats from a Fiero for the same reasons, the headrest speakers. Back in 1994 they weren't as common in salvage yards.

Original style 427 Cobra seats are less than comfortable and have no whiplash protection. The stealth seats are comfy, but don't travel back as far as I would like. I have a friend and I was feeling ornery and tossed him the keys one day. He could either use the clutch or close the door, not both because he is 6'6" and the hinges intrude into the knee space. Had the seats gone back a little more, he could have driven it. Well, I wouldn't have given him the keys, but physically it could have worked for him.

We stopped by the mechanic doing the annual inspection on our 182. The interior is all removed, and all the inspection panels are open. This photo is behind where the rear seats and luggage compartment is. It shows the battery, and the computers used to run the glass panel screens.

Lots of wires and hoses in the aircraft. Once the mechanic has inspected the airframe he moves to the engine. Of course compression checks, and inspect the 12 spark plugs, mags, and everything else. Step by step, inch by inch, document everything. The battery for ELT (Emergency Location Transponder) is date coded so it gets replaced.

One thing for sure when he is done, we have a good annual inspection. The same guy did the 2 172s we leased. He said he found things that were not looked at in 5 years or more on those aircraft and we don't even have possession of them anymore. We returned them in way better shape than when we picked them up.

Watching F1 practice and then on to Qualifying this morning. I sure hope Ferrari can improve a lot from what they are now. It looks like another Mercedes day at the park, easy win.

Jim Richards 06-22-2019 10:42 AM

Hola, y’all. It’s trying to be sunny here, but the clouds may prevail. Either way, I’m going to be in the garage all afternoon. After breaking the death grip that the oil pan had on the engine block, I’ll be cleaning the pan up, repainting it, and reinstalling it. Oh joy.

GH85Carrera 06-22-2019 02:12 PM

Stijn!!

Jim, you should have just left it on, would have been easier. ;)

porsche4life 06-22-2019 02:15 PM

My lift is serving table duty today. Need a place that’s cool to cut flooring so I kicked the garage AC on and put a tarp up to catch the chips!
