Morning all. Take two they are small.

Today we toured the Groit's Garage manufacturing and distributing headquarters.

Neat place and we got to see the bottling part as well as the storage. They have huge 100,000 sq ft facility and it is stacked to the ceilings.

They gave us a set of 3 microfiber towels per person. Really nice place.

Tonight is out final banquet, and then head for home tomorrow morning. Lotsa rain in the forecast. My car is filthy, and will get dirtier on the trip home. It will need a full detail. My boss will have me doing every part of it.

Porsche-poor 07-16-2021 01:43 PM

you better clean up his car!

We got back home safely yesterday.

On Thursday even our neighbor called me with heart stopping news. He came home for lunch at 12:20 and our dogs came running up to him in his driveway. Fortunately he is a "dog guy" and said hi to them, and walked to the front door and rang the doorbell. When he got no answer he walked to the driveway side gate and it was left wide open. The dogs followed him into the back yard, and they went in the doggie door. No harm no foul. He closed the gate.

Today I pulled up the footage from the surveillance system. Starting at Thursday at noon and saw them bring the dogs back over. So I started playing it backwards to see when they first escaped.

The lady staying here was certainly not a captive, and she left at 10:30 AM to do whatever. 30 seconds later our male dachshund Reuben walked through the open gate and out to the front. He went to the street in front of our house and out of camera view for 5 minutes and then returned and went inside. He went exploring later at 12:08 and terrifyingly went around the corner towards the busy street, and disappears for 5 minutes. He finally returns to view and sniffs around in the front and goes back inside about 12:30. At 12:08 both dogs exit the doggy door, and go out front. The neighbor drives past at 12:20 and brings them back over at 12:24 after ringing the doorbell.

So that gate was open for at least a few hours. We are so dang lucky they did not just run off, get run over or kidnapped.

I am exporting the video files and trying to figure out how to encode the time stamps. I want to make a movie of the action for posterity, and to show that lady how lucky we all are. That gate shall remain locked anytime we leave. She will have to go through the house to get from front yard to back yard.

My wife will make something knitted for the neighbor and I told him he is our hero.

The boss had me wash the 911 and get the interior vacuumed out. Next he will want me to put it on the lift and clean the low down parts that have ground in bugs, and grime along the rocker panels. That requires a good cleaning polish.

I ended up with a little shy of 181,000 miles. Lots of smiles.

Porsche-poor 07-19-2021 05:34 AM

Morning all. Glad to see you made it home and no one was lost.

Porsche-poor 07-19-2021 10:38 AM

Man what a crazy weekend. Saturday I broke part of a tooth (bad filling), Sunday the wire was informed her office building was closed due to one of the night guards being found dead.

I need a do over.

GH85Carrera 07-19-2021 10:51 AM

Sounds like a bad deal at the wife's office building.

I went to the dentist today to get my temporary crown replaced with the gold molar. It was too short, and they are going to send it back to be redone. So 6 more weeks of a plastic molar.

Porsche-poor 07-19-2021 10:55 AM

I got lucky this time and no crown required. If it breaks again well that will be big bucks.

GH85Carrera 07-19-2021 12:36 PM

As a kid my mother let me eat candy, so all my dental problems are her fault in the view of most of today's population. I accept full responsibility for eating too much candy, and not brushing like I should have. Some of my molars were more filling than tooth.

When I was born, my mom got me in the habit of eating regularly, so chewing is a favorite activity during meals. Teeth are nice to have. Crowns are very spendy and no volume discounts.

Porsche-poor 07-19-2021 12:54 PM

This was an old metal filling that popped off a small section. The dentist I had in High school was arrested for drugs and was probably drilling and filling to pad the profits to support his habit.

Goodmorning folks. In my youtube suggested videos are a nice pairing. First, a video of Bezo's new space capsule up in space. Next to it is the rebel fleet of x wings and y-wings approaching around yavin 4 to attack.

I wish I had my camera! :D

GH85Carrera 07-20-2021 04:36 AM

Bezo's rocket is right from Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers movies. A bald mega billionaire, with a rocket shaped like a penis. He will just deploy his sharks with lasers to defeat the X-win fighters.

It is 69 degrees here today. Likely the last cool day for a while. The heat dome that has been over the west is growing and coming east to include us later in the week. So far this month we have been 2.2 degrees below normal.

Everything is GREEN and growing so if the heat dome does get here, it will be moderated somewhat from all the growth. Speaking of growth, I need to go mow the yard. It is finally dry from the several inches of rain we received over the weekend.

Porsche-poor 07-20-2021 01:44 PM

afternoon all. lots to do here at work-remote. Off to go finish it.

GH85Carrera 07-21-2021 05:35 AM

Get back to work David!

It was 68 degrees and beautiful this morning.

I have all the video files extracted from the great escape. The gate was open for at least two hours. Reuben made three journeys of exploration to the front. Reece (the female) only went out once, and they were in the front 7 minutes before the neighbors came over with the dogs just happy as can be and wagging tails (the dogs not the neighbors) and closed the gate.

Porsche-poor 07-21-2021 05:41 AM

Morning all. Glad they didn't get away. Back to work I go.

Consider a self closing spring on the gate for the safety of your pets.

GH85Carrera 07-21-2021 07:13 AM

In the 22 years we have lived here that gate has never been left open. The lady staying here to take care of the dogs, the plants, and feeding the fish left it open. In the future, it will be padlocked shut when we go on a trip. She will have to go through the garage or the house to get from front to back.

She made a stupid mistake, and still thinks she did not screw up. We have the video evidence she drove off and left the gate open. Since it was a no harm no foul event, we are not going to push the fact she made a mistake. I made a mistake once.

She is a good dog sitter and plant watering and fish feeding lady. Those are hard to find.

porsche4life 07-21-2021 07:36 AM

Can you put a spring closure on the gate Glen? We have one(required by code with a pool) and it’s nice piece of mind to be sure that the landscapers don’t forget to close it when they’ve been here.

GH85Carrera 07-21-2021 07:47 AM

The spring is certainly possible. It is just a standard gate. It would be more of a pain to get the trash cans in and out or the yard equipment front to back.

The padlock will be the simple cure. She can just leave the trash can in the back yard for a week, we have two trash cans and no desperate need to have it emptied every week.
