My credit union recently (last month) totally revamped their web site. I had to change my username and password, and only some of the automatic payments transferred. I must have had 30+ payments to various entities, some automatic, and many that are services like the guy that sprays my yard for weeds 4 times per year. Trying to remember if any were dropped was more than I wanted to try to figure out. I figured if someone did not get paid, they would let me know.
Sure enough, I got a notice that my City water-sewage-trash bill was overdue. So I had to pay a $7 late fee, and then go to their all new web site to set up autopay. Evidently they revamped their site as well. Then AT&T send me a nice reminder that my bill payment was late. They too have changed the payment setup, and moved the due date so I had to set up autopay with them. I just have everything set up on autopay. I don't have to mess with it month after month. All the other utilities like natural gas, electric, and cable TV all transferred. What a pain to get set back up. And not I have a new account, and password with the city. Oh joy. |
Morning all. That sounds like a real pain in the butt. We have very few autopay but having to set them back up would be just about as fun as you are having.
|
For all of my utilities, except the city water bill, I have them average the payment. So month after month it is the same payment, and it only gets adjusted once per year based on use and fuel costs.
I remember vividly the bad ol days of wondering how I could pay a utility bill. I bought my first house before I really should have. I was tired or renting, and kinda rushed into the house ownership bit. Between the mortgage at 12.5% and the utilities, and insurance and all the other expenses of a house, I was eating a lot of beans or rice. As a single man, and only one income it was tough. I got back into shooting weddings and that got me liquid but destroyed my weekends. Now I just love getting a utility bill and seeing the phrase DO NOT PAY THIS BILL on it. I really should have them all delivered paperless, but I still like seeing a utility bill I don't have to write a check to pay. I never have to worry about forgetting to pay it, and I can go off on a vacation and know it all gets paid on time. |
What is this work stuff you people talk about?
Actually, it is better than what I went through early Wednesday. Kidney stones are somewhat unpleasant. |
I have known a few tough old guys brought to tears at kidney stones.
DRINK MORE WATER!!! I figure I am never gonna have kidney stones as I drink 3/4 of a gallon of water in a day sitting in my office. If I am mowing I can down a lot of water. I am off to the Porsche Dealership's motors in the morning. The south and east parts of the country are in a heat wave, and we are overcast and at 57 degrees and a little breezy. It will be a bit brisk in shorts and t-shirt, and dang it, it is late May, and I refuse to wear jeans. Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of 69 degrees and sunny. I like that. |
Been drinking lots of water and powerade. I finally talked myself into going to the ER for pain meds at 3am. Pain started at 11, but I figured if I could sleep it would pass. Yeah, IF I could sleep. 2nd time in my life I had to have an IV and the meds were awesome. Slept a few hours and the pain never returned so I have all the oral meds unused. First was for a colonoscopy. Not the it mattered, I still remember the whole thing.

I've had kidney stones a couple times. That--and the other times I've had gallstones--were the only times where I was writhing in agony. Even worse than pancreatitis (caused by the gallstones).
In residency we were taught that people with appendicitis want to be very, very still. But people with kidney stones can't stay still. So when you're called down to the ER to evaluate someone for right lower quadrant abdominal pain, try surreptitiously bumping the gurney with your leg. An appy won't like it, but it won't really bother a patient with kidney stones. |
Back when we were living in Hawaii, Dad was an Air Force officer, so our medical care was the military. My mom developed a very sensitive spot on her abdomen so dad got her to the clinic on base at Hickam. They just sent her off to Trippler Army hospital were we usually ended up if it was more than a runny nose or a minor cut. Mom had a team of 6 doctors, all young and just out of med school. They could not figure it out, so they actually sent her to the 4th floor, which was the looney tunes floor for crazies. She passed the crazy tests and they sent her back to the medical ward. The same doctors were all huddled up discussing the issue when the senior doctor cam in. He looked at the chart, and examined mom for a few seconds, and said this is a classic "textbook" case of appendicitis. Get her into the operating room STAT. The opened her up and said her appendicitis was minutes away from rupture.
Had it not been for the one smart doc, the other 6 would had killer her with inaction. |
The weather was wonderful yesterday. The high was 70 degrees.
Today is chilly, only 55 now and the high is forecast to be 60. I had to turn the AC off, and the heater back on. We are supposed to have rain for almost 24 hours. I will believe that when I see it. |
Morning all. Going to be a fun start to the week. Roofing starts soon. A few cars parked in the neighbors driveway to make room for the trash bin and trucks.

10 hour round trip 50 gallons of Diesel. 2 hours testing 30 gallons of VP 110 leaded. New Project Mu brake pads provided incredible modulation confidence. Added front rebound on shocks pinned the front end. Perfect test. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1653315275.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1653315046.jpg A friend gave me this a year ago and surprise it bloomed some huge red flowers. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1653315107.jpg |
My Carrera is Grand Prix White, burgundy leather interior. It is called a G body car by Porsche.
My El Camino is Chevy white, a bit more yellow than the 911, and it has a burgundy interior. Velour seats. It too is called the G body by GM. My wife's Macan is a pearl metallic white but she is pretty radical, and has a tan interior with a black dash. |
The temperature has dropped to 54, and we have received 1/3 of an inch of slow steady rain with lots more to come. Typical April showers. Just a little calendar slippage for April showers to slip into May.

San Diego low 70s May gray followed by June gloom.
The Marine layer in Oceanside is not a prostitute. Natures AC the hot deserts pull in the 1,000 foot thick low cloud layer that burns off late mornings. |
We just received our new voter ID cards. The census caused the house districts to be redrawn. We have a new district number now. I will have to look up to see if our state representative changed. I don't think it did, just the district number. Same number for the state senate and national congress.
The good news is the polling place is the same place. For years when we first moved here, we voted at a SMALL church, with a small parking space. It was all reserved for handicap only on vote day. I had to park on a rural road, and walk 1/4 of a mile on the street as there was no sidewalk. Kinda scary with cars parked on the should of the road, and a really narrow road for traffic with pedestrians everywhere. Now we have a great facility with a large parking lot. It is at the Garvey center on Oklahoma Christian College. No standing in line outside now. |
Yesterday was a record breaker for low temps. We never hit 60 degrees and we received 1.95 inches of rain at our house. Overnight more rain came through and we got another 1.72 inches and it is supposed to rain all day. The lakes were already at capacity or flood stage, so I imagine the gates are open and dumping water downstream. The folks going to the lake for Memorial day will have great weather, but they may not be able to get into the lakes if the beaches are flooded, and there is debris in the lake from the floods.
Too much water is a good problem to have. The people living in the low lying areas will flood yet again, but they have to expect that. We live on top of a hill, and we will never flood. We had 12 inches of rain in 36 hours once, and not even a slight problem here. |
Morning. My head is pounding.......oh wait its the roofers. Man thats a lot of noise. Day two begins in an hour.
|
Yea, I was home the last time we got a new roof. Lots of noise. Be sure to wear real shoes outside for a few weeks now. Don't pull a Richard, and step on a roofing nail and almost die from it.
|
Yeah I thought about that as well. They ran over the drive with a magnet, not sure if they did hte grass or not.

Makes the home owner feel better. I walked my driveway every afternoon the roofers left. Found a few nails at the top of the driveway that had fallen off the roofing trucks. I found a roofing nail this week and ours was done over a year ago. After the roof and after the eves were painted we installed new seamless rain gutters. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1653405846.jpg Last night under the marine layer was cool and dry at Petco park near San Diego bay. Padres won in a walk off after 10 innings, that was almost 4 hours of good entertainment. :) Today a Root canal in 2 hours yech! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1653405747.jpg |
