We had our counter tops changed from the builder's Formica, to granite countertops several years ago. He did the kitchen, both inside bathrooms, and the laundry room. The guy that did it was a master craftsman, but a total analog man. He made heavy paper templates of each piece. A few weeks later he returned and installed them. We upgrade the kitchen sink at the same time and he installed that as well. He did a fantastic job, and they look great all these years later.

The house cleaning extended to the front porch and storm door and front door. A large black spider that had made a huge cobweb and laid an "egg" or the little ball of silk for her babies. Had it been somewhere besides the front door it likely would have been left alone. My suggest of leaving it alone until Halloween was over was met with a simple NO.
So I was assigned the job of dispatching Mrs. spider and cleaning up the web. It was an impressive cob web. All gone now. |

Morning all. Busy weekend. A wedding to go to, pack two cars for Mondays moving day. and all the regular weekend chores.

Busy weekend of playing for me. Tomorrow is the big Guthrie car show and that will run until 3:00 or so. The on Sunday, the club autocross. My rear tires are pretty much worn down and have little tread left. I have a new set of tires on order and they are supposed to get here on the 20th.

Ya know, there are companies that will do that for a fee. ;)
As a kid, we moved on average every 18 months from my earliest memories, to the day I left home and went out on my own. The Air Force would hire a moving company for the moves. I quickly learned to stay in my room and watch them load up a box, and I would use a magic marker to mark the box so I knew to tell the next set of movers where to put those boxes. Dad always said 4 moves is the same as a fire, except for valuable papers and photos. As an adult we all likely remember the age of helping buddies or girlfriends move. One of the worst moves I helped on was a guy that moved from one apartment into another apartment on the other side of the pool in the same complex. Everything he owned was carried over, no vehicles involved. And the jerk had no beer, and provided pizza with pineapple on it! I never helped him again. One chick I worked with was cute, and knew how to smile, bat her eyes, and ask a favor. She had a sleeper sofa that I am pretty sure was a full waterbed. It was the heaviest couch on the planet. And of course she needed it hauled upstairs to her apartment. I only had a 914 at the time, so I was never expected to help haul much, just work. I am glad to be past the age of friends getting married and helping them move. The bad news is now I mostly go to funerals of long time friends. |

If you were closer, we have a new trailer you could break in.
	 |

The easy part is the boxes come out of the car and then once open need to be assembled. Next move will required a moving truck.
	 |

Trailer? I'd need a truck to tow it with. The CRV says no towing. I guess the batteries in the hybrid part are all it can two around.
	 |

Well, we have that as well. It is a Ford F150 though. Been through 3 coil packs in the last year since we inherited it, Not sure I would buy a Ford with my own money,
	 |

Thanks for the offer. Its a simple 5 hour drive South from here. We will have a CRV and Rav4 loaded up so its not really to bad.

David, what is the major your daughter is going for?
Renting trailers is the smart thing for most people. No storage to bother with when not in use. Or even easier, rent the truck and do it all in one load. |

Graf school is Asian Lit. She wants to be a college prof.
Next move will involve just that. All the stuff will be assembled and not in boxes like it is now. |

Phew. Long day at the car show. I got there at 7:30 and found a spot. The other Porsches filed in, and we had a good time. It was really nice in the morning. It got warm by 11:00 and hot in the sun after that. Low humidity and a breeze kept it pleasant in the afternoon as long as we were in the shade.
250 or so cars, smaller than last year, but there was a competing car show in the metro area, and lots of other car related stuff. No trophies this year. |

Sunday we had Monterey weather. It was in the 50s in the morning and the high was low 70s and low humidity. Just wonderful weather. We had a great time at the autocross. I got home about 1:00 PM and was still slathered in sun screen. I just changed in to my yard mowing clothes and shoes and mowed my yard. As I was finishing up, I got a text from the friend that was at the car show on Saturday. He owns a very nice old original 67 912. It has plenty of patina, but looks nice. His Porsche badge is really beat up, and missing some of the orange in the bars. In that era, the badge had orange not red bars. The posts that hold it in place are broken off, and he uses double sided tape to hold it on. I mentioned I had an badge with the orange bars, and posts are in good shape.
That got his attention. He came by yesterday as I was finishing up mowing. I showed him the badge. It has been stuck to the drywall in my garage above my workbench since we moved in 24 years ago. I I carefully pried it off, and he was smitten. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1662988150.jpg I figured it was $100 or so. He offered me $300 and I said sold. I like that it will go on a car that needs it, and be seen and I just made 300 bucks. I had no real use for it. |

My wife decided we need to "deep clean" the house. Pull the furniture and appliances out and clean behind and under them. Take all the stuff off of shelves, dust each piece, and clean the shelves. The ceiling fans have to have the light fixtures removed, and cleaned.
I "get" to help. One real challenge came when in the living room with the 12 foot ceilings. The light fixture has a ceramic ring, and it screws down onto the light bulb fixture, on the outside of the bulb fixture. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1662995920.jpg Of course, first remove the bulb, then just unscrew the ring. Yea, right. The ring and the bulb fixture are both ceramic. They kinda grab each other, and much like unscrewing a light bulb that has been in place for years, it grinds and has friction and it is a challenge to get my fingertips on the ring to get it off. Even harder is threading it back on straight, while holding the glass decorative light fixture in place as I try to screw the ring back on. I did get some silicone "bulb grease" for the threads to help make it easier. Two went back on with no major problems. The last one grabbed and was like it was superglued in place. I could not get it to release, to get a it going back on right. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1662995920.jpg Out to the garage it make a Glen special tool P-901-911-01 tool. I dug in my plumbing supplies and found a 1 & 1/4 inch slip fix connector, and it was pretty close. I had to cut the slots for the raised parts with my Dremel, and then sand down the inside of the fitting, with the a sanding wheel on the Dremel. Just sand it, and test fit until the rig fit nice and tight into the tool. I figured that would make getting the crooked ring off easy. Nope. I had to get a 12 inch piece of PVC to make the handle longer, and hold the back of the bulb, and push hard, and remove it. I would never have been able to remove it, and then thread it back on straight. My special tool makes it pretty straight forward. Now just 4 more ceiling fans to take apart and put back together. Golly it is fun! |

Though I have thought about taking the non-attached garage and putting up a 24x36 so I can put more cars in it. This works for now. |

Our TiVo system learns viewing habits, and suggest shows we might like. Mrs. Carrera is into football. She records several games and can watch two games at once by switching back and forth durning commercials and 1/2 time. She might record 6 games in a evening, and watch them the next day. The TiVo started recording games like crazy. It had 24 games recorded and in the suggestion folder. Most of them she just deletes, but she will have one on as she is doing something like her continuing cleaning project.

The newer 26 foot Featherlight is my preferred trailer. The old 20 foot Carson Racer hasn't been used in 3 years. So it has some deep storage stuff in it. But it is smaller and since its only 25 long it is allowed to park in the pits at the Monterey Reunion so I hold on to it in case I need it for Reunion. Last reunion I took the big trailer but left it in the track trailer storage lot and pitted out of a buddy's 30 foot trailer. My 26 foot trailer in track storage had 5 locks on it. 2 wheel boots, a 6 foot locking cable and 2 locks on the hitch. Also in the hotel parking lot I remove my Ram dually starter relay so it can't be stolen. A lot of racers losing trucks and trailers lately. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663080466.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663080611.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663080492.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1663080450.jpg |
