The orthophoto finished last night. It is kind of big. 47.6 GB (51,177,802,869 bytes)

It covers 67 square miles. I have no idea how I can get Photoshop to play nice with it to tweak the color balance and density. That will take some head scratching.

Morning all. Working from home today so I can take the CA bound kid to the airport. Back to school for now.

GH85Carrera 03-06-2023 05:55 AM

It was 788 yesterday and same for today. I looked at my back yard and it is due for a mowing. So I will "get" to do that today. Oh joy.

The good news is, I am in shorts!!! :D

Porsche-poor 03-06-2023 06:07 AM

Morning all. No shorts here 32 and foggy. Its definitely Monday I left my phone at home.

Most of us geezers lived most of our lives with no cell phone. I was the last person at my old office to get a cell phone. I was too cheap to spend more than $25 per month for a cell phone. AT&T had a special offer they mailed to me. I signed up for a basic Nokia candy bar phone, no internet for $25 per month. I avoided smart phones and many years later when I finally got my first phone that was a smart phone, I had the internet services disabled as they charged my the second.
Then I finally got an iPhone original and swallowed the smart phone thing hook line and sinker. I saw the light, and became a believer.
Now my phone is my brain add on. I have my calendar on it, and so much more. I can't imagine not having it with me all the time.

Morning all. going to be testing my computer and my tolerance for the stupid in the world today. Client wants the plan view drawings all put together but dosen't understand the xref function and wants blocks. Yeah that is going to make a file I can't move very well let alone open.

We used to have customers come in and order a section of land, one square mile, and then ask for the 20x30 print. I would enplane that a square will not fill up the 20x30 as a square and a long rectangle are different shapes, so I will have just white paper on the sides. One guy said make it fit! I then told him the only way to do that is the make a "silly putty" image and stretch the image. I had to waste time to show one guy what that would look like on the monitor. He finally understood.

And often we had clients that insisted on the full resolution images in digital format. No problem for us, just one gigabyte per square mile images. For some reason PowerPoint did not care for one gig images, and they could not email them.

yeah this is going to be interesting to see who gives up first me or the crappy laptop.

GH85Carrera 03-08-2023 05:19 AM

Well another storm front rolled through. We ended up with 0.01 inches of rain, and just three miles south received 1.5 inches. Like Maxwell Smart would say, "missed it by that much"

I got a new debit card in the mail yesterday. It had a sticker on it with a phone number to call to activate it. So I had to enter the card number, expiration date, last 4 of my SSN, zip code, the code on the back of the card, and my desired PIN and then the computer was happy. I looked at that crazy long number I had entered and I guess with a long number string, I am unique in the world! ;)

Morning all. Having fun here with hay stacks and needles.................

Porsche-poor 03-09-2023 06:31 AM

Welcome to Thursday. A cold (35) and wet day in the PNW. So typical March.

GH85Carrera 03-09-2023 06:48 AM

We are in the middle of for us a heavy rain, .16 overnight!

The rain bands keep going just south of us. Even down at Will Rogers airport, they got well over an inch. Oh well.

Nice weather this past week in SoCal, but supposed to rain once again tomorrow. Local mountains (as well as all the Sierras) got crazy snow. People were snowed in for a week or more. Unfortunately, there were a dozen deaths (just in the local mountains alone) due to the snow. Some were snowed in and died of medical issues when they couldn't leave for care. Sad.

Yea, this is a drive through at a Carl's Jr. I don't think they are open.

I have heard of people running out of food in the house. I guess with kids drinking milk I can see that. For adults that actually live there, it seems stupid. I bet we have enough food in the fridge, and the cupboard to live for a couple of weeks. We would run out of fresh produce, but canned food, dried foods, and stuff in the freezer is plentiful. I can see running out of food in a vacation rental when you expected to eat out most nights. But how would someone go up there when the forecast is for lots of heavy snow? Yea, massive snow amounts more than predicted is bad news.

I have never been in anything like that situation. I just simply don't understand.

Porsche-poor 03-10-2023 06:11 AM

oh good its fire alarm testing day at the office. Great way to start and ruin a Friday.

GH85Carrera 03-10-2023 06:50 AM

What steps do you take in case of a fire?

Long, wide, rapid steps out the door.

flipper35 03-10-2023 07:43 AM

Hey all. Heavy wet snow last night. Will clear the concrete area and leave the gravel area.

Not much else new here.

GH85Carrera 03-10-2023 08:20 AM

50 degrees and sunshine here. Supposed to be 75 to 80 tomorrow but a bit breezy, 25+ MPH breeze. ;)
