Yep they were. I thought about the shots route but decided to not do them. Its only a few weeks at best that it really gets me.

It cost me about $12 in gas to mow with the tractor. Couple more for the trimmer. This time of year I mow about 3 times per month.

Afternoon all. Typical end of the week. Way to busy headed into the weekend.

Water just keeps falling from the sky. I have the sprinkler system turned off right now. We are due for a pretty weekend. I will be doing another oil change on the El Camino this weekend. Then playing with the 911 a little to double check the AC charge to triple check there are no leaks.

GH85Carrera 05-20-2023 12:38 PM

Wow, what a pretty day!

Clear skies, light breeze and just now up to 74 degrees and low humidity. We went to the PCA club breakfast this morning and had a good chat with friends.

When we got home, I changed the oil and oil filter & lubed the suspension on the El Camino. Golly what fun.

We had a fantastic weekend for weather.

Yesterday I mounted the fire extinguisher. This is under the passenger seat. From the driver's seat I can reach down, and pull it out in a second.

It is a extended time version, and all the reviews I have seen say it will put out a fire, and not leave any bad residue to clean up.

It was a real challenge to get the screws in place for the bracket. The screws themselves are below the curve of the bracket, so a socket does not work. I used a set punch to make a small dent to start the drill and make the hole. There is nothing behind that part of the seat mount. The bottom nut was a total pain to get tightened. I had to use a little tiny open end wrench I have to tighten the top one. The bottom one was tedious and took forever turning it 1/16th a turn at a time. It is secure, and not going anywhere, and it does not rattle.

You can tell I am not a councours weenie, the tracks under the seat are dusty!

flipper35 05-22-2023 06:43 AM

Self tappers not work there?

GH85Carrera 05-22-2023 07:34 AM

Those are self tappers!

The issue is the curve of the bracket shape makes it impossible to use a socket drive to drive in the screw. So I used the punch to mark the spot to put in the screw. Drilled a small hole to make the self tapper cut threads easier. Screwed them in place with no bracket, removed the screws, and put the bracket back in place. Then the hard part of getting the screws to tighten down with just a open end wrench. The arch of the bracket just blocks the possibility of using a socket. If the bracket were bigger, it would not fit under there.

It was just like shoving 100 pounds of crap into a 90 pound sack. I made it work, but it was tedious.

I like spending money on safety improvements too.
It feels good to be content with all choices regarding personal safety.

My track car system.
2.5lb Handheld has a simple very secure pin mount.
Helps put out hot header on grass fires if stuck on tall grass.

12.5 lbs on board with 4 nozzles, engine, driver, rear end and fuel cell.

The red emitter is a thermo coupler, so if he the driver is knocked out fire will activate the 4 nozzle system.

Sunday rode bikes around Mission Bay in San Diego.
Memorial weekend we'll avoid the beach areas. :)
Too hot for the desert tracks now.

Porsche-poor 05-24-2023 06:31 AM

Morning all. Last day to find out if I get to serve on a jury. I have to call in after 5pm tonight and see if I get to go to work tomorrow or not.

flipper35 05-24-2023 06:33 AM

71 this morning. Rode the bike since it getes 50mpg.

Porsche-poor 05-24-2023 06:43 AM

55 out and the high is supposed to be 71.

GH85Carrera 05-24-2023 06:46 AM

Jury duty is so much fun! ;)

My last go around was county duty. Stand in lines, sit in uncomfortable seats, go home. It pays about what it costs me to drive down there, and park in the parking garage, so I break even it I consider my time free.

So Brent, are you back to gainfully employed and earning a paycheck?

flipper35 05-24-2023 10:04 AM

Yup. Been here a while and it is enjoyable as far as working can be.

GH85Carrera 05-25-2023 08:26 AM

In many times of going into jury duty, I have only been on one jury. It was declared a mistrial and we were sent home. They would not tell us why it was a mistrial.

I noticed one important detail. It seems the people that got there really early got picked. By the time they got to me, the jury pool was full and I was sent home. So if there is a report time window, show up at the back end of the time frame if you don't want to serve on a jury. Get there early if you want to serve.

flipper35 05-25-2023 08:29 AM

Checked the mpg on thebike. 55mpg.
