Morning all. Hope all is going well Glen.

GH85Carrera 11-26-2024 07:07 AM

She is in the room awaiting the doctors to visit. About to get the nerve block in the shoulder and then the feel good juice from the anesthesiologist.

Porsche-poor 11-26-2024 07:14 AM

good luck Mrs. C!

GH85Carrera 11-26-2024 12:01 PM

We are back home for an hour now. The pain block worked great and she has zero discomfort right now. The doc said he did not have to cut as much as he thought, and he did not have to cut and reattach her bicep at all. So good news on all fronts.

Then I did a drug deal in the parking lot! She had a prescription for pain pills and they handed me a orange card. I drove over to the main entrance of the hospital, and parked in a space reserved for prescription pickup. The provided me a phone number and I called that and she said it would be $7.04 total. I did not have any pennies. so I gave them $7.25 and she handed them to me through the window. We did not even have to get out of the El Camino. Two people walking into the hospital waved and gave me a thumbs up on the Elky. People with excellent taste! ;)

She is supposed to take a pain pill tonight before "going to bed" which will be done in the recliner for the next few nights.

She is resting comfortably for now. :D

Porsche-poor 11-26-2024 12:04 PM

Great to hear. Stay on top of the pain and don't let it get out front. Make sure to tell the boss you got this and no beer for her while on meds.

GH85Carrera 11-26-2024 12:48 PM

She only has one or two beers per year, and even then it is just a sip of mine, so I don't have to share my beer. I did have to go fetch a milkshake for her. She had not eaten anything since dinner last night.

Porsche-poor 11-26-2024 02:56 PM

Get me one to while you are out.

GH85Carrera 11-26-2024 06:57 PM

Well I whipped a Thanksgiving dinner (leftovers) for her. Just some turkey and mashed taters. It was some solid food in her tummy. The hospital did a good job of cleaning her up as far as all the sterilizing stuff they put on her. She has a sling she can't take off for 48 hours. I can't imaging what PT that can do with the sling in place. The ice water recirculating shoulder gizmo is doing good. We froze a bunch of water bottles, and add water to the fill line and it should run icy water for 10 or 12 hours.

Tonight I "get" to sleep with my cell phone close by on the charger in case she needs me in the middle of the night.

Morning all. hope the first night went well. I'm off to the train for a day trip to Eugene and back by car. Picking up the kids so they can work while I'll drive. Seems like teaching and taking classes is a bit much for them to take off for the holiday. The wife is thrilled I'm willing to make it happen so the family can be together.

GH85Carrera 11-27-2024 07:20 AM

Great to have the kids and grand kids home for the holiday.

I survived the first night. She is at PT right now. It is close by, so I came home instead of waiting there. She got a "sponge bath" and I had to help dress her this morning. I have had practice at undressing women, but never before have I had to dress her. She has a shirt that has snaps up and down both sides, and getting them all snapped up is a challenge without moving her arm.

I will go pick her up pretty soon and get her settled in the recliner with the ice pack on her shoulder.

GH85Carrera 11-28-2024 06:08 AM

She is on the mend, and doing lots better. At the PT place they removed the large bandages, and now just tape over the staples in two spots. They removed the sling, and showed her some exercises to do at home. It frees up her left hand a lot for basic functions, like opening a pill bottle, or putiing on lotion. It made it way easier for the sponge bath.

Yesterday she was feeling a little nausea so she called the doctor's office. They prescribed some anti-nausea pills. The pharmacist said it will likely cause her to feel sleepy. Boy, did it. She was asleep in zombie sleep, in her chair for most of yesterday afternoon and evening. Then we got her ready for night time and she said she slept very hard. So she will take just a half of one of these pills today. She is down to one pain pill every 6 hours. The bottle said one or two every 4 to 6 hours, so is is ahead of that pain. She fells much better. And her shoulder already hurts less than before the surgery. Something for sure to be Thankful about.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Porsche-poor 11-28-2024 06:59 AM

Morning all. Happy Thanksgiving. Long drive home yesterday. No good deed goes unpunished. We counted 5 or 6 accidents along the way. These were all going to ruin some ones holiday if not life type accidents. Everyone of them the cars were probably a total loss.

GH85Carrera 11-28-2024 07:08 AM

99.99% of those "accidents" are just crashes due to bad driving. They deliberately made choices to tailgate, speed, or drive drunk, high or sleepy, or poorly maintained vehicles.

Like most airplane crashes, it is mostly pilot error. Same for car crashes. Yea, it is sad someone crashed, and the innocent driver crashed into gets a really bad holiday.

Porsche-poor 11-28-2024 07:12 AM

That and the extra 2 hours it took me to drive back home.

On my trip back from Palm Springs, my GPS told me there was a two hour delay on I-10 and it rerouted me down south of the Salton Sea, and along the Mexican border. One of my friends that drove home earlier said it was a fatality motorcycle crash.

The strange part is on the interstate there was a border crossing check point. Of course I never left the country, but that road is used by smugglers I presume. They saw an grey haired man alone in a 911, and just waved me through.

GH85Carrera 11-29-2024 06:28 AM

I am getting better at putting clothes on a woman. I never had to help women get dressed in the past. I was good at removing women's clothes, but reverse is harder.

She got to take her first shower since Tuesday morning. That made things much easier and faster.

Now it is time for her morning PT exercises.

Outback Porsche 11-30-2024 03:55 AM

G’day Gents. Glad Mrs C is recovering well.

GH85Carrera 11-30-2024 04:59 AM

Howdy to you on the other side of the world.

She is sleeping fine at night. That first night she could not sleep much if any at all. We are getting proficient at getting the ice cooled shoulder pad on and off of her. The frozen water bottles last all night. She is doing her exercises and trying to get better.

Outback Porsche 11-30-2024 11:39 AM

I had a similar tune up done to my ankle. The first week was horrible pain, but I did all the exercises and three weeks after the op I was playing tennis again.

GH85Carrera 12-02-2024 05:29 AM

I am getting better at helping getting her dressed. The toughest part is the shirt she has. It has snaps down both sides soo it has a front piece and a back piece. It is a black shirt, and the tiny little snaps are black. Getting that on her is a challenge. Getting the little snaps aligned it hard to see without a flashlight, especially under her arms. And of course the left arm that has a sling on it, is the hardest. I managed to endeavor to persevere and get it done.
