Do Direct flights still exist coast to coast in this country?

Seriously, unless you live in NYC or LA, are there *any* direct flights from sea to shiny sea ? (pic the shine, east coast or west)

I'm going to guess the answer is no ! I'm trying to fly from Central Florida (St pete, Tampa or Orlando, not choosy) to the SF bay area (San jose, oakland, SFO and even Sac'to, 4 possible choices), guess what ? After an hour of research, I can't find a single flight that does not stop somewhere... Most of the time there isn't even an option to say I want non-stop, if you're lucky you get to put a check mark in the box that says "I prefer non stop"... That's like saying I'd prefer not to get swine flu... Either way it does not care...

I want to give the airlines a chance to strand me mid-trip with a 2 year old on my lap about as much as I want to get kicked in the nuts or have to buy a new WUR for my car... I'd semi-happily pay more for the privilege (of a direct flight, not a kick in the nuts)... Zippo... Damn I hate flying these days... I swear if I win the lotto someday, my firts purchase won't be a GT3, it'll be a fractional on Net Jets ! Never surrender a baby bottle to TSA ever again, never get stuck midway again....

Any tips ? (no great hope there but you guys might know)

kayak.com has a button to click for prefer non-stop.

A quick search with a random date showed:
United, US Airways and a combination United/US Air non-stop flight from Orlando to SanFran and back.

Showed Orbitz as the source of the info and flights ranged from $435 to $876.

Not sure if the link will keep the info.
