My wife would not think any of these are funny....

berettafan 08-13-2009 06:43 AM

this is why i don't take casually interested people hunting or shooting. guns are not a casual thing.

This chick actually had a pretty decent and correct hold on the weapon, and is leaning into it.

To me the idiots in these sorts of videos are the dumbasses that hand these weapons to the under-trained(usually women) to begin with.

PS: I'd hit it. ;)

One time when i was qualifying with my crappy old M-16A1 i had 3 straight pieces of brass wedge themselves in my steel pot's chin strap. (I'm left handed, no shell deflector in the A1)

That sucked.

PS: I'd definitely hit it. ;)

One of my Navy buddies was at the range, and there was a group of 20-somethings in the next lane. So my friend is reloading and the "boom" from the next lane just sounds wrong. He turns and sees one of the kids on the floor.

Turns out it was a group from a local church that went and did things together every week, movies, bowling, whatever. Well, one of them was a shooter, and that week, he brought the group to the range. Well, the (now dead) shooter-kid was teaching a ~100lb girl to shoot, with a .44 Magnum. He was standing behind her, over her shoulder, when she touched the first round off. Well, the recoil surprised her, and the the muzzle flipped back over her shoulder where she flinched and put a round into the shooter-kid's head.

Tom

This is a perfect example of why I do NOT see the novelty of finding the smallest, least experienced lady in the group and thinking it would be cool to let her shoot the largest god damn hand cannon the world has ever seen. It's pointless and dangerous. If a small, inexperienced person really wants to learn to shoot large caliber arms, and is serious about it, then they should try a few smaller handguns before grabbing for the 50 cal. And it's just as much the other male shooters around on the range's fault to let someone get themselves into such a dangerous position 'becuase it'll be cool to see Lindsey shoot 'dat 'dere magnum!'.

I'm glad & proud that it seems most pelican gun enthusiasts are extremely responsible, safe, and smart shooters.

Additionally- after watching that video of the woman in the pink-

That's a 500 S&W right? Maybe she wouldn't be as giddy at the end if she knew what that round would do if one went through her knee or ankle there. That's not hollywood hero bullet wound, that's you-just-amputated-your-lower-leg bullet wound.

Bill Douglas 08-14-2009 07:35 PM

The guys in a gun range in Sydney showed me the bullet marks in the ceiling where a woman was using a 9mm and a hot case went down her back. She got a fright and probably bump fired a magazine full of rounds into the celing and into the wall behind her. Now with first timers they stand next to them and if anything goes wrong they force the gun down on the bench.

That instructor guy was just a ferkin idiot.

Which one? The guy in the "Gun Safety Fail" vid is (was?) a DEA Agent.

Bill Douglas 08-14-2009 09:51 PM

Yup, the is/was guy.
