A great guitar player and a great inventor.

84 years old and still playing out

What a life.

The man left nothing on the table.

Wow...a "Listerene" commercial. at 1:29, his playing becomes "ass-lickin' good"!

What a fantastic life. RIP Les.

Thank you, Les Paul. Because of you, my life has a soundtrack.

Godspeed.

Thanks for the video links stomachmonkey...

Les was a true innovator...not only in terms of his solid body electric guitar design...but particularly his studio innovations such as multiple-record heads for multitrack recording, use of tape echo in the studio etc.

I used to slow down his songs with Mary Ford and learn the arpeggios that he played... he played them at that 1/2 speed and then sped up the tape to make them "other worldly" fast.... even at 1/2 speed they are technically proficient and challenging to play well.

He seemed like a good guy too which further endeared him to the guitar world.

Personally I prefer Fender guitars to Les Pauls for playing reasons, but the contributions that that style made to rock and roll is just as much on par with what Leo Fender designed.

I loved his guitar playing - even as a child back in the early '50s.
And what he did to her voice, Wow!
.
I recall watching Merle Travis receive some kind of award/trophy about 25 - 30 yrs. ago...while on stage he mentioned that he taught Les Paul the rudiments of LP's style. He looked over to LP and said, "Would you teach me back?"
.
Thanks for those music links. I have never watched him work.
.
My favorite by them.
Lyrics, that are so simple and sweet, by Eugene Lockhart, with the most endearing and enduring version.

"The World is Waiting for the Sunrise"
.
Dear one, the world, is waiting for the sunrise.
Every rose is covered with dew.
And while, the world, is waiting for the sunrise.
My heart is calling you.
.
Dear one, the world, is waiting for the sunrise.
Every little rose bud is covered with dew..
And my heart is calling for you.
.
The thrush, on high, his sleepy mate is calling,
And my heart, is calling you.

Definitely worth a thread. Great instrument, although I am a Fender guy myself.

Thankyou sir, for your contrubutions in crippling musicians globally.

Sadly missed. RIP

Edit: I wonder what his views were on the prices of early guitars bearing his name?
