My Dog is not Doing well:-(
Poor little guy isn't moving much, clearly not feeling well as he isn't eating his food or treats, and I get get him to take his meds:( but he is drinking his water... I called the vet, as he is already coming back to check on him with the lab results in a few days, but I'm worried the little guy won't make it.... Say a prayer for him as he has been a very good dog that claimed me in either 92 or 94...

Best wishes Byron, for you and your little buddy!
|
Damn...yes, hoping for the best while preparing for the worst. We've all been there...and knowing that never lessens the hurt.
|
Jeez Byron, this has been quitea year for you so far.:(
Hang in there, both you and your little buddy. |
Best wishes Byron.

Thanks guys, is is just a few feet from me, just lying down, did have some more water & is responcive, almost looks more tired than anything... I can't lift him or anything, as his slipped disk, but until tonight, he was taking his meds & eating fine(including earlier today) I'm worried about his kidney as well, the vet is waiting for the lab work.. A new friend stopped by tonight & wanted to take me out, but I had to tell her another time, don't want to be far from the little guy...

Good luck to the both of you |
I really like that picture of the dog and cats on the bed.
What's the doggie's name? KT |
Looks like a great pup. Sounds like he's had a good run. I'm sure he's had and shared lots of love. Hopefully things go well and he can share more love.

I wasn't kidding when I said he chose me, I went out to the work shop one day and he was on a shelf... Yes, he is a great dog... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1250405339.jpg |
Byron, you are a good soul.
You've been thru this before. It never gets any easier but you have given another soul the best that you have to offer. And I don't think Roat could have gotten any better. Hang in there. Scott |
Thanks Scott,
His breathing is looking labored, I'm going to try & reach the vet again in a few hours. Poor little guy.. When he 1st came to me, I thought he was to cute & friendly for someone to have dumped off, so I did the signs & news paper ads, but got no response. hen one Sat. I rember very clearly, as I just got back from a funeral of a PCA friend, hadn't quite changed out of the suite yet & there was a knock on my door. Turns out the little guy is part beaver, he had chewed a hole in the fence & run out in the street, where some idiot had run him over & kept going, luckly, there was a car right behind that one who saw it, and walked up to my door. to tell me. Being a Sat afternoon, there weren't too many vets open, and the 1st one said Quote:

Good luck Byron.
Crappy thing to have to think about. Looks like a good boy. You're probably dealing with the, "am I keeping him around for me, at his expense?" thing. I say not to worry about that (we've lost 5 pets in 1.5 years. 5!), he'll know when the time is right. |
Looks like his kidneys are shutting down, just got off the phone with my vet and he suggested that I take him to the Emergancy clinic, so wish us luck.....
|
I wish you guys the best.
|
Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Best. |
Byron, hope it turns out okay.
|
Sorry to hear that, Byron.
|
Byron, I think it's great that you love your pets so much.
They are special friends to us. They're wonderful. I'm sorry your little Roat is not doing his best. KT |
"Note: It is a common belief that 1 human year is equal to 7 dog years. That is not very accurate, since dogs reach adulthood within the first couple of years. The formula used above is from a canine expert and is a bit more accurate. (as accurate as one can judge these things)
The formula is: 10.5 dog years per human year for the first 2 years, then 4 dog years per human year for each year after" So little Roat, if he doesn't make it across this moat, after 81 years, will cause his loving master many salty tears. But rest assured that little Roat will cause many wagging tails when he recounts the salty tales of his life with Byron, up in doggie heaven. Hang in there, David |
Best wishs for Roat Byron. Hang in there.

:( Well, my little buddy had one last ride in the Porsche, he loved to do that....
I hated to say good-bye to him, I mean, look at this sweet face, but between his liver #s being off the chat, literally, kidney #s also very high, the shipped disc and being old. He couldn't stand today, and the vet said that he may not make it through the night & it would be very hard on him.... He could barely lift his hairy little head:( I'm really going to miss his smiling face, I could always count on him to greet me that way... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1250451252.jpg |
Sorry Byron....
|
I am sure you gave Roat a great life. He is probably doing the whole skippy dance right now. No more old age, no more pain. :) I'm sorry for your loss.
|
It really sounds like he was a great little guy.
I sorry and sad with you, Byron. I hate it when our pets die. I'd love it if you shared some more pictures and stories with us. KT |
Sorry for your loss Byron.
Hang in there. |
Very sorry to hear of your loss, Byron.
There's nothing like the experience of bonding with a good dog. . BTW, was Rimadyl (Carprofen) ever given to him? |

Sorry to hear of the loss of your canine pal Byron. :(

Google on: Rimadyl side effects . That is one BAD drug! That med almost killed my dog, Augie. An out-of-state vet friend of mine and I were on the phone when I was tending him through a very bad time - she asked if Augie had a distant look in his eyes. I was holding him at the time...I looked and he was not there. Needless to say, I freaked. . I have since learned that that is one side effect of Rimadyl (Carprofen) - death. I think that all dog owners ought to be alerted. . Again, very sorry. :( . . From this forum: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/search.php?searchid=4192146 |
Very sorry Byron.
