I moved out about 40 years ago.... I was headed to orientation at USC. The first day, I met a guy named Davan Dodrill from Columbus, OH who had just been to Woodstock. |
I have phonedials on my car, and the phone in Chicago was RAdcliffe 3 1744.

Ours (in Oxnard) was HUnter36030.
Prior to that was BEach1033. That was Hollywood-by-the-Sea, now Channel Islands. |
BR549 Well somebody had to say it.:D
Actually ours was DAvis 73426. |
714-592-3924 was my phone number as a kid.
My address was 1020 Canyon View Drive, La Verne, CA. I remember as a little kid in Peoria, my dad hiding the "non-Bell" phone in the closet when the repairman came. Apparently there was some penalty for not using a phone from the phone company? |

When I was young & wild, I special ordered: 223-2697 (BAD-BOYS). Girls could never use the excuse "I forgot your number"...
They just never called. :( |
EMerson 2-4190. DRake 2-4891 is still my parents' number. They're not on the 10-digit dialing plan yet, so sometimes my dad will give out the DRake number just to mess with those under 40. When we turned in the rotary dial phone in the early 80's (it had a straight, not coiled handset cord) I popped the dial off to save the DRake exchange printed on it. Behind the "new" 7-digit number was the original 4-digit label.
Amazingly enough, when my folks signed up for high speed internet, they're getting over 2 mbps (ADSL) on almost 60-year old phone lines. |

Sindey, it is great having a 18 year old as part of the club. We will tease you about your lack of age. If you are lucky you will get to be an geezer someday and tease some 18 year old about his youth in the year 2049! Tell him hello from all of us!

Hey man I can take the ribbing. Can you guys take the old jokes?
