Do you remember the old phone numbers?

As a kid back in the 60's our phone number was Cherry 34569 or CH34569 and the GL was Glendale, do you remember what the others were?

targa911S 08-18-2009 07:46 AM

yes ours was Regent 4 7036. Don't ask me how I remembered that when I can't remember breakfast.

I still remember our vacation house as AT3 11 86. That was in the 70's. Interesting that you go by CHerry and REgent.

The caps are the exchange abbreviations.

dhoward 08-18-2009 08:12 AM

PRospect 67841.
Don't call at dinnertime.

The Gaijin 08-18-2009 08:14 AM

"Butterfield 8" is now a midtown restaurant..

Looking_for_911 08-18-2009 08:16 AM

Several years after my grandparents had passed away I discovered that the phone in my house - was theirs - had been on a rental plan since 1962 when the service was installed. It wasn't much a month but we could have bought a boat load of phones over that much time.
I guess it was in the early 90's when I took the original phone to the then Bellsouth store for a credit. They were amazed to say the least. You'd have thought I'd brought in dionosaur eggs instead of a telephone! They'd never seen a tele that heavy!
I wonder how many people were killed in the old days by being hit in the head with what seemed to be a 20-pound telephone!?!

dd74 08-18-2009 08:26 AM

Two cans and a string, smoke signals, and just a good loud yell.

I've always hated phones.

sammyg2 08-18-2009 08:38 AM

Our phone number when I was 5 was 298-8983. Can't remember the area code.

on2wheels52 08-18-2009 08:44 AM

We were 6492, aunt & uncle was 6291.
Jim

My parents are still using the number they had when I was a kid.

Laughing my arse off.

porsche4life 08-18-2009 09:11 AM

Well I just moved out yesterday to give you an idea....

red-beard 08-18-2009 09:17 AM

Area codes left off, here are the 2 family homes:

497-6092 Houston

370-2290 Niskayuna

I can't remember my own numbers from college, or anything up to leaving San Diego. Too long ago...

mossguy 08-18-2009 09:30 AM
