radiohead, pyramid song
zero 7 , distractions

most of kate bush... but can one really call those songs lame?
(except for her latest album which frankly i don't like much)

on a similar note, why does music sound better when intoxicated?
it's like another level is added, where the base and tune becomes tangible...

cheers boys

I love Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, but that's really the only non manly music i like i guess.

I'm a badazz, so if a song is lame, I don't like it.

Likewise, if I like a song, it's not lame.

I got hooked on one of her songs - starstruck - when it was played in an episode of Fringe.
[hands over man card]
In my defense, the scene involved two hot chicks making out.

VINMAN 08-21-2009 03:02 PM

Ok who's gonna be the first one to admit to liking "Afternoon Delight"??:D

Laneco 08-21-2009 03:13 PM

I like nearly all types of music and listen to country most of the time. That gives me a fabulous opportunity to come up with a list of "lame" but loveable...

Can't remember the singer but the lyrics include:
I'm having Daydreams about night things, in the middle of the afternoon...

Recently while traveling in Texas (yeah, go figure) I got this one stuck in my head... Lyrics include:
God is Great, Beer is Good....and people are crazy.

Oh and whole bunch of Juice Newton such as:
"Angel of the Morning"

OH and of the non-country note, let me include

Muskrat Love (Captain and Tenile)

angela

ckissick 08-21-2009 03:14 PM

A bunch of songs. My daughters are in a repertory theater group and have been in many musicals. Songs like "76 Trombones" from Music Man grow on you after hearing them 100 times in rehearsals and on the Ipod. I know every word and can belt it out with the best.

I'll be turning in my man card soon.

If memory serves me, Ronnie Milsap did that "Daydreams about night things" song. Not a bad one, either.
If I'm wrong I'll blame the GF as she confirmed my thought.

Edited: I looked it up. We/she are correct. Here's a link.

I like many kinds of music and typically listen to classic rock in the car, but I must admit to enjoying classical pieces such as Canon in D, Handel's Water Music etc.

I also enjoy country, oldies and big band.

Probably what some would find the most odd piece of music I like is Gounoud's Ave Maria. I grew up catholic and it was my grandfather's favorite. I had my daughter's and my younger cousins perform it at my grandpa's funeral earlier this year and it sometimes brings tears to my eyes still when I hear it.

Here is a nice rendition of it on YouTube, but it was best performed by my cousins and daughter's on flute, violin and piano at grandpa's funeral. ;)

My brother is in a country band in LA of all places and when he and one of my cousins (a classical viola player) were home for the funeral they cobbed this together out of respect. Not that great, but it also brings a tear to my eye.
