BMW Roundel I really like my car

I should get pics up soon. But I've been driving it for a few weeks now, and man, its the most fun car I've owned yet. Its an E30 sedan, 1991 318, with a 1999 328 engine and a 2006 M3 trans. There's also a few engine goodies too.

The car just makes such cool sounds. I really need to find a big open lot to test the chassis more. Its the most responsive car I've had. Lifting the throttle mod-corner brings the back out decisively, but you can get back in just a bit and settle it. Tracking out at the end of an on-ramp, I can lay on the gas and feel the back slide ever so slightly, just enough to let me stay on the gas without understeering. It really begs to play. I'm not willing to push it further than this on public roads, but I can't wait to try this car at the limit somewhere safe.

I'm beginning to understand why people like the E30 chassis so much- its nimble and raw, and yet at the same time if I drive normal it settles down. I guess its a lot easier to tune a suspension when its only got 2600-2700lbs to cope with.

I've still got a few electrical gremlins to fix, but this car is very well sorted. The only thing that dampened my emotions was that it ate the A/C compressor right after I bought it. But at this point, its been 2 months, and if I had gotten a new car that would have cost me more by now, so I'm ok. Plus, driving it makes me forget its transgressions- she's a seductive lady.

I test drove it today. Good stuff.

I suggest you take it to the track, as E30's are a great platform to really learn throttle steering.

Of course, if you do track your car, trekkor will probably just pass you in a clapped out Ford Escort.

I just love my 1995 e36, with a s52 motor, tranny, and H&r springs, Bilstein shocks, big brakes, etc. It sounds great with a full Dinan exhaust and Dinan upgrades. I like the room it has for all my stuff. Oh well, to each his own.

Mark, that car sounds like a lot of fun. I cannot wait to see it in person. Any chance you are taking it up to the Mountains in Nov?

So you have no excuses. Just think of all the pictures that I would have to take.
