New Daily Driver

I never would have guessed that my first brand-new car would be a BMW. Well, sorta

Picked up this bad boy today. 2009 Cooper S. 0-60 in 6.7 sec with a possibility for 35mpg. Very, very fun to drive. The perfect DD for me to give the Porsche some rest.

Nice. New Country Mini?

I have a '05 non-S and average 33mpg 60/40 highway/secondary. You'll be amazed at just how much you can stuff in the back with the seats down!

Congrats...kind of figured you were leaning that way because of your earlier thread. Have fun.

I'll second that. For such a small car, you will also be amazed at how $hitty your gas mileage can be when you make liberal use of the go pedal (which you WILL do a lot of).

Congrats. Enjoy it.

Yeah, I've been following that thread. It really is a "love-it-or-hate-it" kind of car, that's for sure. I've made peace with the fact that some people think it's "ghey", but - hey - I'm pretty comfortable with my sexuality. Besides, I have a nice 951 to balance it out

Some realizations I came to while driving today:

This car probably handles a little better than my 951 (nowhere near as quick, though)!

There is NO WAY I will ever see the possible/theoretical 35mpg in that car. It's just waaaay too fun to drive.

I was pretty close to getting one of these 2 1/2 years ago, but I got the 2007 Mazdaspeed3 instead. I needed a bit more room to haul the kids, musical gear, dog, etc... and the MINI lost that one to the MS3. Nice car!

Bingo!

My mostly urban driven '06 regulary returns mpg in the hi teens. Pretty bad for the smallest car on the road (except the Smart).

I finally got rid of the factory run flat tires and put on some Yokohama S-Drives...Soooooo much better.

My '04 Cooper seems to never need refilled, but it doesn't have any sort of FI either.

Hahaha Scott!

More along the line of what I meant - the rear seats were removed (a la JCW rear seat delete, except with foam panels) and a blanket goes in for the dogs. Tasha (68lb Sib Husky) and Abby (138lb Saint Bernard) loaded and ready to go for a walk.

That's really bad when I think about how I drive the 525 and get hi-teens in town as well.

It's always freaky seeing a 70 pound dog be DWARFED like that!
