Indy Car Series @ Chicagoland on VS. right now
I'm not into ovals at all, but this is worth looking at.
There are 14 cars, all going 212-215 and they're all within a second of each other. It looks insane... I guess it is insane at those speeds. Right now it's Franchitti, Dixon, and Kanaan; 1-2-3. They're on lap 135 of 200... I swear it seems like they're doing a lap every 20 seconds. Maybe they are.

Caught the lost 6 laps. Wow... I'd be sh***ing bricks going that fast 8 inches from another car.
Why didn't Dixon use the overtake button? Looked like he had a few left.

He explained that during the interview...12 second delay between overtake button pushes...

I was at the race last night. I had money on Ed Carpenter.
It was a good race with a close finish. Does anyone know how the "push to pass" works? In typical American motorsports fashion, they announce a technology without really explaining other that "twelve seconds of speed boost". How? *** The parking at Chicagoland is a complete and total cluster f***. I was back to my car after the race near 11:00. I didn't get out of the parking lot until 1:00. I didn't get home until 3:00. At the NASCAR race, they finally devised a parking system that works, whereby if you came into the track from the east entrance, you parked on the east side of the track and so on. I was out of the parking lot and on the road 10 minutes after the race. It was the ONLY time at this track that the parking crew had a flicker of a clue. Nope, this time they funneled ALL of the cars, no matter how they came in to the east parking lot, when that was full, they moved to the next parking lot, and so on. The result? After the race everyone is trying to get to their exit and within 10 minutes there is total gridlock. I watched the cars line up in the parking lot and sit for an hour before there was ANY movement out of the lot.

I can remember being at a Busch race with parking like that. It had rained and some cars needed pulled out witch made it even worse.

They need a community orginizer to figure the parking out. Maybe a Federal grant...

Oh, ok. Well its still AGR or Andretti Green Racing since Kim doesn't leave until Nov. 1st.
No, we did not have a very good race in Chicago. We missed on tyre temps on three of the cars and had a suspension failure on another. We have been struggling to regain the mechanical grip we lost last year and the cold ambient temperature drove the track temp down to about 70 degrees, or 18 to 20 degrees cooler than when we practiced on Friday. Front roll center changes on two of the cars had little effect and in hindsight we could gone with less camber in the cars. Hey, but thanks for your support!

During the day (I got at the track at noon), we were predicting that turn 3 would be a likely spot for accidents if the temperature did drop to 40º and the wind kept up like it did during the day. Anyone know why the f*** the race was so late!? 9:00 p.m. is no time to start a race.

Were there any support races that ran longer than expected?
Maybe that's what time VS. wanted to put it on. Maybe it's like college football now... the networks determine start time. Over half the start times of the games on U of South Carolina's schedule... one week before the season starts... are TBA!
